Abstract: Methods and platforms are provided for maintaining a population of natural enemies on plants, prior and/or parallel to an occurrence of respective prey pests, by associating with the plants platform(s) comprising mechanical support(s) with attached feeding elements for the natural enemies. The platform may be configured to keep the feeding elements close to but not on the plants, protecting them and enhancing the distribution efficiency and life time, while maintaining good availability of the feeding elements to the natural enemies. Various features may enhance supporting the natural enemies' population prior and/or parallel to the occurrence of the pest prey such as olfactory and/or visual cues to the feeding elements as well as sheltering elements such as artificial domatia on the surface of the mechanical support—to enhance biological pest control. Moreover, methods for preparing decapsulated Artemia cysts as feed for predatory arthropods are provided.

  • Patent number: 11641815
Abstract: A method of removing debris from an area of turf grass can include providing a grass treatment system including a comb having a leading edge comprising a plurality of comb teeth, wherein the comb is mounted transversely to a direction of travel, and a substantially cylindrical brush positioned above the comb and configured to engage at least a portion of a top surface of the comb, wherein the brush rotates relative to the comb. The method can include positioning the grass treatment system closely adjacent to the turf grass such that the comb engages debris on and around the turf grass surface, and moving the grass treatment so that (i) the comb engages the debris, (ii) the rotating brush removes at least a portion of the debris from the surface of the comb, and (iii) the rotating brush does not come into contact with the turf grass.

  • Patent number: 11641816
Abstract: An irrigation device has a generally arc-shaped housing defining an opening through which a plant can grow when the device is placed on a ground face during use. The device further includes a plurality of stakes that can be fitted to the housing, wherein each stake can be rotated between a deployed state where the stake projects away from the housing in a position suitable for being placed into the ground and a non-deployed state where the stake is oriented sideways projecting into the opening.

  • Patent number: 11641817
Abstract: A pollinating device for pollinating crop plants includes a base mountable on a carriage. At least one pollination unit is mounted on the base and includes a pollen-releasing apparatus configured to release pollen from male flowers of the plants and at least one nozzle for directing fluid along a flow path for delivering at least some of the released pollen to the pollen-receiving rows of crop plants. Certain pollinating devices include multiple pollination units spaced apart along a width of the base. Some pollination units include at least two opposing nozzles. Plants are pollinated by driving the carriage along a field and directing air from the nozzles over the pollen born by some plants to deliver the pollen to female flowers of other plants in the field.

  • Patent number: 11641818
Abstract: The present invention provides use of a photoperiod-sensitive genic male sterility mutant of cotton in crossbreeding or hybrid seed production. The fertility of the photoperiod-sensitive genic male sterility mutant of cotton is influenced by the photoperiod. The photoperiod characteristic of the photoperiod-sensitive genic male sterility mutant of cotton is that, the photoperiod-sensitive genic male sterility mutant of cotton shows normal fertility when the illumination time is shorter than 11.5 h and shows genic male sterility when the illumination time is longer than 12 h; the photoperiod-sensitive genic male sterility mutant of cotton is in a fertility change period when the illumination time is in a range of 11.5-12 h and has less pollen. The photoperiod-sensitive genic male sterility mutant of cotton is PSM1, and/or a photoperiod-sensitive genic sterile line obtained through selective breeding of hybridized and/or backcrossed and/or self-bred offsprings of the PSM1.
