Publication number: 20240008832Abstract: A deep learning (DL) convolution neural network (CNN) reduces noise in positron emission tomography (PET) images, and is trained using a range of noise levels for the low-quality images having high noise in the training dataset to produce uniform high-quality images having low noise, independently of the noise level of the input image. The DL-CNN network can be implemented by slicing a three-dimensional (3D) PET image into 2D slices along transaxial, coronal, and sagittal planes, using three separate 2D CNN networks for each respective plane, and averaging the outputs from these three separate 2D CNN networks. Feature-oriented training can be implemented by segmenting each training image into lesion and background regions, and, in the loss function, applying greater weights to voxels in the lesion region. Other medical images (e.g. MRI and CT) can be used to enhance resolution of the PET images and provide partial volume corrections.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2023Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: CANON MEDICAL SYSTEMS CORPORATIONInventors: Chung CHAN, Jian ZHOU, Evren ASMA

Publication number: 20240008873Abstract: A method of using a medical instrument can include applying a distally-directed or proximally-directed load via a drive member to an end effector coupled to an elongated shaft via a wrist assembly so as to actuate the end effector; and reacting the distally-directed or proximally-directed load to an inner link of the wrist assembly that is pivotally coupled to a first outer link and a second outer link. The wrist assembly can be actuatable via drive cables and reacting the load maintains the first outer link interfaced with the second outer link in the absence of tension in the drive cables.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2023Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: INTUITIVE SURGICAL OPERATIONS, INC.Inventors: Nicholas Ragosta, Matthew A. Publication number: 20240008874Abstract: Devices, methods, and systems are provided for occluding a collateral flow channel between a target lung compartment and an adjacent lung compartment. A video-assisted thoracoscopic device is inserted into a thoracic cavity of a patient and positioned at a fissure between a target lung compartment and an adjacent lung compartment. A collateral flow channel between the target lung compartment and the adjacent lung compartment is then identified using the video-assisted thoracoscopic device and an agent is injected into the collateral flow channel, thereby reducing the collateral flow channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2023Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: Pulmonx CorporationInventors: Sri Radhakrishnan, Ryan Olivera

Publication number: 20240008877Abstract: A hemostatic clip includes a traction device, a clamping device and a first limiting member. The traction device includes a traction mechanism and a separation mechanism. The clamping device includes a constricting sleeve and a clip head assembly. A proximal end portions of the clip head assembly is inserted in an inner bore of the traction mechanism in an interference-fit manner. The separation mechanism prevents a second locking member of the clip head assembly from being connected to a first locking member of the constricting sleeve, thereby allowing the traction mechanism to drive, under the action of an external force, the clip head assembly to move along an axis of the constricting sleeve. The clip head assembly can be separated from the traction mechanism simply by providing an external force that can overcome the interference fit between the two.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2021Publication date: January 11, 2024Inventors: Xuefeng YANG, Lu JIANG, Zhen WANG, Quanbin WANG

Publication number: 20240008878Abstract: A clipping system includes a clip, extending and control members and an endcap mounted on an insertion device. A planar body of the clip includes first and second cut-outs defining fingers. The control members slide within extending members to releasably couple to the clip so that movement the control members moves the clip between an insertion configuration, an initial deployed configuration and a review configuration in which the end cap is withdrawn proximally away from the clip to enhance visual observation of the clip. The control member is operable to retract the clip proximally over the end cap toward the insertion configuration so that the fingers are forced open as the clip is retracted over the end cap, freeing the clip from tissue on which it had been clipped to reposition the clip if necessary.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2023Publication date: January 11, 2024Inventors: Deepak Kumar SHARMA, Sharath Kumar G
