Abstract: A diffuser made of thermoform molded pulp in a desired shape, such as a hanging ornament, having features to secure a wicking part of the diffuser to a rounded bottle opening filled with an oil fragrance. To insert the diffuser, a cap is unscrewed from a bottle filled with oil fragrance, and the wicking part is inserted through the opening of the bottle until it rests on the interior bottom of the bottle. A rotatable capping feature is featured at the top of the wicking part, which is closed during insertion of the wicking part to prevent accidental spillage and loss oil due to evaporation. The wicking element draws the oil fragrance into the ornamental diffusing part by capillary action.

Abstract: Provided is a method of protection treatment in a target space where inactivation of bacteria and/or viruses is performed. The target space is a space where a light source emitting ultraviolet light having light output in a specific wavelength band belonging to within a range from 190 nm to 235 nm has already been disposed or is planned to be disposed. The method of protection treatment includes the steps of attaching a base material whose main component is a chlorine-based resin, to an interior surface of the target space or a surface of an object disposed in the target space, and forming a protective layer on a surface of the base material. The protective layer contains a material that exhibits resistance to the ultraviolet light.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a hydrophilic fiber membrane with a sustained-release drug, and belongs to the field of biological materials. The present disclosure provides a hydrophilic fiber membrane with a sustained-release drug, including a fiber with a core-shell structure, where a core of the fiber includes curcumin and a first spinnable polymer, and a shell of the fiber includes polyethylene glycol and a second spinnable polymer; and in the shell, the polyethylene glycol and the second spinnable polymer have a mass ratio of not greater than 1:12. In the present disclosure, the fiber membrane has a core-shell structure, the curcumin is provided in the core, and the shell prevents a rapid release of the curcumin in an early stage, thereby delaying a release rate of the curcumin to prevent the drug from forming a burst release in the early stage and causing toxic reactions.

Abstract: The invention relates to biodegradable bilayer sealants for tissue closure. The sealants of the invention are composed of two layers with different compliances. The layer in immediate contact with the tissue has high compliance. The second layer located immediately above the first sealant layer has low compliance, i.e. the sealant is much stiffer. The burst pressure of the bilayer sealants is enhanced relative to either a single layer elastic sealant or a single layer stiff sealant. The improved sealant compositions herein provide a water-tight seal, can access hard to reach tears, be applied in a dry or wet environment, are low-swelling, and can repair a range of incision or tear sizes. The bilayer sealants are particularly useful for sutureless dural closure or as adjuncts to sutured dural closure. Also provided herein are methods of preparing and using the biodegradable sealant compositions.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a fiber membrane and a preparation method and use thereof, and belongs to the field of biological materials. The fiber membrane includes a fiber with a core-shell structure, where a core of the fiber includes simvastatin and a first spinnable polymer, and a shell of the fiber includes hydroxyapatite and a second spinnable polymer. In the fiber, a release of the simvastatin mainly depends on a rate of water invasion. After water invades the fiber, the simvastatin in the fiber leaves the fiber with the diffusion of water. In the present disclosure, a barrier function of the shell prevents moisture from entering the core. Therefore, the simvastatin in the core cannot leave the fiber with the diffusion of water molecules in an early stage, and a release rate of drugs is slowed down in the early stage, thereby controlling sustained release of the drugs.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques, devices and systems that modify an insulin delivery schedule based on how sensitive a diabetic user may to fluctuations in their total daily insulin or fluctuations in their blood glucose measurement values. As a control algorithm calculates how to adapt the calculation of the user's total daily insulin, a rate of adaptivity function may be used in the calculation. The rate of adaptivity may depend on a number of factors and the disclosed techniques, devices and systems enable calculation of the rate of adaptivity to provide effective implementation or modification of a diabetic treatment plan.

Abstract: A method of dispensing a therapeutic fluid from a line includes providing an inlet line connectable to an upstream fluid source. The inlet line is in downstream fluid communication with a pumping chamber. The pumping chamber has a pump outlet. The method also includes actuating a force application assembly so as to restrict retrograde flow of fluid through the inlet while pressurizing the pumping chamber to urge flow through the pump outlet. A corresponding system employs the method.

Abstract: A fluid delivery device has a syringe barrel with reservoir chamber for fluid, a plunger that translates along a longitudinal axis to expel fluid, and a pusher dimensioned to translate within the barrel and coupled to a drive mechanism to controllably contact and move the plunger. The pusher contacts the plunger at its mechanical center to reduce tilt in the plunger. Contact faces of the pusher and plunger cooperate as a ball joint to minimize non-axial forces on the plunger face. The pusher can have a protrusion of various lengths extending toward and being at least partially received in a recess of various depths in the plunger. The pusher is rigidly connected to a drive mechanism for anti-rotation. The pusher can have scalloped edges for air venting, and apertures for cooperating with protrusions on the drive mechanism to prevent bottoming out the plunger when filling.

Abstract: A care assembly placement system may comprise an inserter including a port with a coupling interface and a receptacle body including tracks partially swept around the axis of the port. The system may further comprise a cartridge including a retainer with a care assembly coupled thereto and a sharp holder having a first end bearing a sharp. The retainer may include projections. The sharp holder may include a coupling interface opposite the first end. When the cartridge is placed in an aligned position relative the receptacle body and rotated to a coupled state, the projections may each displace along a ramp of a respective track in a first displacement range translationally driving the cartridge to a position in which sharp holder and port coupling interfaces are aligned. The sharp holder coupling interface may be rotated into engagement with the port coupling interface in a second displacement range of the cartridge.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of a location data processing system. An embodiment operates by configuring a column of a table to store data across a plurality of different coordinate systems. The data to be stored in the configured column is received. The received data is divided into a plurality of fragments, including a first fragment comprising a plurality of data entries. A first data entry in the first fragment includes a coordinate specification including metadata indicating how to evaluate corresponding data of a first coordinate system represented by the first data entry. A query for data from the first fragment is received. The plurality of data entries of the first fragment are evaluated based on the coordinate specification to identify data that satisfies the query. The data is returned responsive to the query.

Abstract: A fluid management and medical device system may include a fluid management system and a medical device having one or more sensors proximate the distal end of the elongate shaft of the medical device. The controller of the fluid management system may be configured to calculate a fluid deficit when the distal end of the elongate shaft is disposed within a patient and configured to automatically pause fluid deficit calculation when the distal end of the elongate shaft is removed from the patient. In some instances the controller is configured to calculate the fluid deficit using rotational speed of the inflow pump in combination with a difference between a change in weight of a fluid supply source supplying fluid to the fluid management system and a change in weight of a collection container collecting fluid from the fluid management system.
