Patent number: 12049595Abstract: Methods are provided to prepare a low sulfur fuel from hydrocarbon sources, such as light tight oil and high sulfur fuel oil, often less desired by conventional refiners, who split crude into a wide range of differing products and may prefer presence of wide ranges (C3 or C5 to C20 or higher) of hydrocarbons. These fuels can be produced by separating feeds into untreated and treated streams, and then recombining them. Such fuels can also be formulated by combinations of light, middle and heavy range constituents in a selected manner as claimed. Not only low in sulfur, the fuels of this invention are also low in nitrogen and essentially metals free. Fuel use applications include on-board large marine transport vessels but also on-shore for large land based combustion gas turbines, boilers, fired heaters and transport vehicles and trains.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2021Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: Mawetal LLCInventors: Mohammed Wohaibi, Tom F. Patent number: 12049635Abstract: A transgenic method of obtaining blue flowers by catalyzing glutamine to synthesize indigo. The steps include: 1) respectively cloning a Sfp gene encoding phosphopantetheinyl transferase and a bpsA gene encoding indigo synthase downstream of a plant promoter in a plant-promoter-containing plasmid; 2) amplifying the obtained plasmid in E. coli and then transferring the same to Agrobacterium tumefaciens; and 3) transferring DNA containing Sfp and bpsA into a plant. The blue flowers produced by the present invention have various characteristics of natural flowers, being fresh, flower-scented, non-color-fading, and non-toxic. The transgene-encoded enzyme and the produced indigo are not in the vacuole and are not affected by the low pH of the plant vacuole, thereby resulting in a pure blue color. The precursor of the blue matter, i.e., the substrate of the enzyme, is glutamine, which is abundant in plants.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2018Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignees: TIANJIN UNIVERSITY, Institute of Microbiology Chinese Academy of SciencesInventors: Yan Zhang, Yihua Chen, Nanjaraj Urs Ankanahalli, Yiling Hu, Pengwei Li

Patent number: 12049639Abstract: Described herein is a method of preventing or treating a disease in a mammalian subject, comprising administering to the subject who is in need thereof an effective dosage of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a virus like particle (VLP) comprising: an alphavirus replicon comprising a recombinant polynucleotide, wherein the polynucleotide comprises a sequence encoding both subunits of a human class II major histocompatibility antigen, a retroviral gag protein, and a fusogenic envelope protein, wherein the VLP does not contain an alphavirus structural protein gene.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2023Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: The USA, as represented by the Secretary, Dept. of Health and Human ServicesInventors: Deb K. Chatterjee, Stanislaw J. Kaczmarczyk

Patent number: 12049640Abstract: A cell adhesive substrate comprising a substratum, on a surface of which a peptide group is immobilized, wherein the peptide group comprises a peptide containing 40% or more and 75% or less of one or two or more of basic amino acid residues selected from the group consisting of lysine, arginine and histidine and 25% or more of one or two or more of hydrophobic amino acid residues selected from the group consisting of leucine, isoleucine, glycine, alanine, valine, phenylalanine, proline, tryptophan and methionine. There is provided a cell adhesive substrate that is unlikely to cause an immune reaction and can maintain a cell adhesion effect for a long time.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2019Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: TORAY INDUSTRIES, INC.Inventors: Kenichi Harimoto, Hirokazu Sakaguchi

Patent number: 12049641Abstract: Provided is a method for efficiently harvesting cells cultured at a large scale from a three-dimensional porous scaffold. This method includes: a culturing step in which cells are cultured on a three-dimensional porous scaffold sealed in a culture vessel; an enzymatic treatment step in which an enzyme solution containing trypsin-EDTA, caseinase, and/or collagenase is added to the culture vessel to conduct an enzymatic treatment on the cultured cells in the culture vessel; and a vibration treatment step in which a vibration treatment is conducted, i.e., a base that makes a circular motion within a horizontal plane and a bottom surface of the culture vessel are made to come into surface contact with one another so as to impart a vertical-direction vibration to the cultured cells that have undergone the enzymatic treatment.Type: GrantFiled: December 25, 2017Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: FULLSTEM CO., LTD.Inventor: Shunmei Chiba

Patent number: 12049642Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to cell-based therapies for treatment of visual disorders, including disorders of the cornea. Methods are exemplified for directed differentiation of corneal cells from stem cells. Compositions of corneal endothelial cells and uses thereof are also provided. Exemplary compositions exhibit improved cell density and/or more “youthful” gene expression relative to cells obtained from donated tissue.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2017Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: Astellas Institute for Regenerative MedicineInventors: Kathryn L.
