  • Patent number: 12090256
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for collecting a platelet product from a fluid including platelets and plasma. Platelet-rich plasma is separated from at least a portion of another constituent of the fluid and then may be further separated into concentrated platelets and platelet-poor plasma, with the concentrated platelets being resuspended. Separated platelets are conveyed through a size exclusion filter and into a platelet storage container. The size exclusion filter is configured to remove platelet clumps and/or particles larger than a platelet from the separated platelets. Subsequently, an additive is conveyed through the size exclusion filter and into the platelet storage container. Conveying additive through the size exclusion filter improves platelet recovery in the platelet product by displacement of separated platelets with the additive and may also break up any platelet clumps that are present in the size exclusion filter.

  • Patent number: 12090282
Abstract: Disclosed herein are expandable introducer sheaths and methods of making and using the same. The sheaths minimize trauma to a patient's vasculature by allowing for temporary expansion of a portion of the sheath to accommodate passage of a delivery system for a cardiovascular device, then return to a non-expanded state after the passage of the device. The sheath includes an elongated annular member having longitudinally extending channels that facilitate the sheath's temporary expansion. The channels are positioned in such a way that, upon expansion, they enable the movement of protruding contact surfaces toward the inner and outer surfaces of the annular member, reducing friction between the surface and the passing device. Some embodiments of the expandable sheath include an elastic outer layer that pushes the protruding contact surfaces back towards their original positions after the passage of the device.

  • Patent number: 12090285
Abstract: A deflectable catheter including an outer member having a proximal portion and a distal portion, an elongated column member extending distally from the outer member and an inner member positioned coaxial with the outer member and attached to the column member. The inner member extends distally of the outer member and has a distal tip portion. A reinforcement member is positioned over the column member to restrict axial movement of the column member such that when one of the inner member or outer member is moved with respect to the other, axial compression of the column member is restricted by the reinforcement member causing the distal tip portion of the inner member to deflect laterally.
