  • Patent number: 12166558
Abstract: Selective radiation of radio frequency (RF) reference beams in a wireless communications system (WCS) based on user equipment (UE) locations is disclosed. The WCS may include a radio node that communicates RF communications signals in a coverage area via RF beamforming. Thus, the radio node is required to periodically radiate a number of RF reference beams in different directions of the coverage area to help UEs to identify a best-possible RF beam(s). However, radiating the RF beams in different directions periodically can increase power consumption of the radio node, particularly when the UEs are concentrated at a handful of locations in the coverage area. In this regard, the radio node can be configured to selectively radiate a subset of the RF reference beams based on a determined location(s) of the UE(s) in the coverage area, thus making it possible to reduce computational complexity and power consumption of the radio node.

  • Patent number: 12166559
Abstract: Systems and methods for beam failure recovery (BFR) are disclosed herein. A user equipment (UE) receives downlink (DL) reference signal(s) on corresponding beam(s) from a base station. The UE performs beam failure detection (BFD) on such beams used for user data to determine whether a beam failure has occurred, and candidate beam detection (CBD) on such beams not used for user data to identify candidate beams for recovering from the beam failure. The BFD and the CBD are based on both uplink (UL) channel performance considerations and DL channel performance considerations, as determined using the DL reference signal(s), such that a beam failure may be determined in the UL, the DL, or both, and a candidate beam may be identified for UL, DL, or both. The UE sends a beam failure recovery request BFRQ with this information to the base station, and the system changes beams accordingly.

  • Patent number: 12166578
Abstract: A new radio (NR) bit prioritization procedure that may be executed by a UE and a base station is disclosed, resulting in transmission and reception of modulation symbols having prioritized bits. For example, a transmitter may encode a code block using low-density parity-check code to generate a stream of encoded bits. The transmitter may arrange the encoded bits in one or more modulation symbols according to a relative priority of the encoded bits. The highest priority bits may be located in the most significant bits of the modulation symbol, and therefore be less likely to experience errors. A receiver may receive the modulation symbols and reorder the encoded bits according to the coding scheme based on the relative priority prior to decoding the encoded bits. The prioritization of the bits within the modulation symbols may provide improved block error rates over sequential mapping of encoded bits to symbols.

  • Patent number: 12166579
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for implementing high-speed Ethernet links using a hybrid PHY (Physical layer) selectively configurable to employ a non-interleaved RS-FEC (Reed Solomon Forward Error Correction) sublayer or an interleaved RS-FEC sublayer. An adaptive link training protocol is used during link training to determine whether to employ the non-interleaved or interleaved RS-FEC during link DATA mode. Training frames are exchanged between link partners including control and status fields used to respectfully request a non-interleaved or interleaved FEC mode and confirm the requested FEC mode is to be used during link DATA mode. The hybrid PHY includes interleaved RS-FEC and non-interleaved RS-FEC sublayers for transmitter and receiver operations. During link training, a determination is made to whether a local receiver is likely to see decision feedback equalizer (DFE) burst errors. If so, the interleaved FEC mode is selected; otherwise the non-interleaved FEC mode is selected or is the default FEC mode.

Abstract: Technology is disclosed for programmatically providing structured and personalized meeting content that both (1) summarizes aspects of a meeting recording and (2) is used to navigate to a section of the meeting recording. To do so, the disclosure provides technologies to determine sections of the meeting recording. For each section of the meeting recording, a section representation and a meeting structure for presenting the section representation are determined. The section representation includes an image and a text summary of the corresponding section of the meeting recording. Additionally, the disclosure provides technologies to automatically generate a personalized navigable meeting recording (PNMR) user interface (UI) based on the meeting structure, the PNMR UI comprising an indication of each section based on the section representation. Selection of a section representation causes playback of the meeting recording to change to the section associated with the section representation.

Abstract: A network appliance or smart switch can include service devices as well as a switching device such as those used in high-speed switches having limited processing ability and are stateless with respect to sessions. Service devices can provide stateful and complex processing. A first exposed port of a switching device can receive network packets and can determine which network packets the service devices are to process to produce processed network packets. A network packet can be sent to a service device in a redirected packet. A processed network packet can be received from a service device in a reinjected packet that is used to recover a port identifier of the first exposed port. The port identifier can be used to determine a network destination of the processed network packet. The processed network packet can be sent from a second exposed port of the switching device toward the network destination.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices to reduce the channel estimation overhead by collecting data from many UEs and building a location-based mathematical model are disclosed. During building of the model, a reference signal is used to collect location- and signal-related data from connected UEs. Once the model is successfully built, it is then transmitted and/or downloaded to each new UE that connects to the base station. The UEs and/or the base stations then use this model to determine their own transmission parameter values. The UEs also report their location to the base stations, which use the model to estimate channel conditions and adapt transmission parameters for themselves.
