Abstract: A lens drying system includes a sterile gas supply, a supply line, and an annular body. The body is connected to the supply line and defines an internal channel. The internal channel, which is in fluid communication with the sterile gas supply via the supply line, defines a plurality of openings. The openings are collectively configured to direct a flow of a sterile gas, e.g., a filtered and desiccated medical grade gas, from the sterile gas supply onto a lens surface of an ophthalmic front lens. This occurs during a non-contact wide-angle visualization process to mitigate fogging of the lens surface. A processor of a surgical console may receive user preference settings, including a desired steady-state flow rate and/or a desired pulse rate of the sterile gas. The processor could then command the desired steady-state flow rate and/or a desired pulse rate from the surgical console.

Abstract: Ophthalmic devices can be applied for treatment of various conditions including eye diseases, such as glaucoma, using minimally invasive surgical techniques. The ophthalmic device can be used to cut the trabecular meshwork (TM) in the eye. The device tip provides entry into the Schlemm's canal and ramped portions elevate the TM under tension and guide it to lateral blades. An entire strip of TM can be removed without leaving TM leaflets behind and without causing collateral damage to adjacent tissues.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a method for correcting higher-order aberrations including providing a laser radiation. The method also includes controlling a location of a beam focal point of the laser radiation by a system of scanners and guiding the beam focal point in such a way that the location of the beam focal point is in a cornea of an eye. The method further includes introducing the laser radiation into the cornea of the eye. The method includes cutting a lenslet, wherein a thickness of the lenslet t(X,Y) satisfies a following equation: t(X,Y)=t0+?t(X,Y)/(n?1), where ?t(X,Y) represents a higher-order wavefront elevation and t0 represents the thickness of the lenslet having a spherical refractive power of D.

Abstract: A single-piece patient interface device for coupling a patient's eye to an ophthalmic surgical laser system includes a cone substrate with a rigid frustoconical shaped shell for coupling to the laser system, and a flexible suction ring integrally joined to the lower end of the rigid shell for coupling to the patient's eye. The suction ring has a circular skirt extending downwardly from a base portion, a diaphragm extending from the base portion and disposed inside of the skirt, and a contact lens held by the diaphragm to cover a center opening. When the skirt contacts the eye's surface, the skirt, the diaphragm, the contact lens and the eye surface form a vacuum chamber, where a vacuum may be applied to secure the patient interface device to the eye. The parameters of the suction ring are optimized to fit a large range of eye sizes, including smaller eyes.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods for wound treatment. In some embodiments, a negative pressure source is incorporated into a wound dressing apparatus so that the wound dressing and the negative pressure source are part of an integral or integrated wound dressing structure that applies the wound dressing and the negative pressure source simultaneously to a patient's wound. The negative pressure source and/or electronic components may be positioned between a wound contact layer and a cover layer of the wound dressing. The negative pressure source and/or electronic components may be separated and/or partitioned from an absorbent area of the dressing. A switch may be integrated with the wound dressing to control operation of the wound dressing apparatus. A connector may be direct air from an outlet of the negative pressure source to the environment. A non-return valve may inhibit back flow of air into the wound dressing.
