Abstract: Aspects herein are directed toward an upper assembly for an article of footwear that includes a knit element that extends from a throat area to a lower area of the upper assembly along at least a medial side and a lateral side of the upper assembly. The knit element includes a first plurality of aperture groupings. The upper assembly further includes a tongue that extends across the throat area and extends along at least a portion of the medial side and/or the lateral side of the upper assembly to the lower area of the upper assembly. The tongue comprises a second plurality of aperture groupings. The apertures in the second plurality of aperture groupings are axially aligned with at least a portion of the apertures in the first plurality of aperture groupings.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a smart sensing insole including a pressure sensing layer (for instance a pressure plate) which includes a configuration of longitudinal conductive lines and transverse conductive lines. The intersection of the longitudinal conductive lines and transverse conductive lines is used as a sensing point to measure the pressure and the distribution when the foot pressure changes. The area occupied by the sensing points is between 3-50% of the entire insole area. The sensing point position is configurated at pressure peak position, pressure center area, foot arch position.

The first array of posts may engage with the second array of posts to attach the first fabric portion to the second fabric portion. The posts may be printed on the fabric using additive manufacturing equipment, which allows the closing mechanism to be integrated into the fabric. Each post may include a rigid core and soft covering that deforms when the posts are engaged.
