  • Patent number: 8578847
Abstract: Devices and methods for evacuating fluids from a flexible conduit, particularly to evacuating water from a fire hose. In one aspect, a fluid evacuating apparatus is utilized to evacuate a fluid, such as water, from a flexible conduit, such as, for example, a fire hose. The apparatus may further be utilized to collapse the flexible conduit for storage and/or transport. In exemplary embodiments, a fluid evacuating apparatus may be utilized to evacuate the water from hoses of a wide range of diameters that collapse into a compact form for storage. The apparatus may include a frame with a handle, a mobility mechanism, such as, for example, wheels or rollers, a roller which may evacuate water, and a restraining mechanism which may hold down the hose, such as a roller or rollers.

Abstract: A compacting system compacts particulate matter in open-top railroad gondola cars rolling on rails. The compacting system comprises a compacting station adjacent the rails and a scanning system that scans the gondola cars as they move along the rails toward the compacting station. The scanning system transmits data of the gondola car to an electronic control system. The compacting station has at least one compaction member, e.g., a plate structure or a roller, configured to contact an upper surface of the particulate matter in the gondola cars. The electronic control system controls the compacting station so that the compaction member engages with and applies force to the upper surface of the particulate matter in the gondola car so as to compress the particulate matter in the gondola. A method for compacting particulate matter in a gondola car is also shown.

  • Patent number: 8516955
Abstract: A towable trailered standing tree baler provides independent maneuverability with sufficient structural strength required for baling large trees. A telescopic wheeled frame provides ground support directly underneath a tree branch compression ring and therefore provides a strong structural foundation for pushing the ring upward. The support wheels of the frame can be both steered and tilted so that the apparatus can be centered on the tree even on uneven ground. A compression ring lifting boom utilizes an interconnecting rotation arm between the end of the boom and the compression ring so that the ring may be positioned at a very low starting point close to the ground and then moved accurately upwardly with the circumference of the ring being held level and centered. A specialized lining material on the ring reduces friction against the tree limb bark and therefore reduces tree limb damage.

Abstract: A baler for making large cylindrical bales is equipped with a device for controlling the placement of a bale after it is discharged. The bale control device is coupled to fixed forward side wall sections of the baling chamber and is selectively operated such that front and rear bale control members of the device are respectively located behind and forward of a space into which a completed bale may be discharged. Thereafter, the bale control members are moved to the rear in to a location wherein the front bale control member holds the discharged bale to the rear of a path traced by the discharge gate when it swings between a raised discharge position and a lowered baling position. The rear bale control member engages a discharged bale so as to halt the rolling inertia imparted to the bale during discharge, the front and rear bale control members thus cooperating for locating the bale at rest.

Abstract: The present invention is a biomass compactor. The device is made up of a frame having a hydraulic compaction cylinder. When the hydraulic control is activated, the compaction cylinder moves forward through a hopper filled with various biomass materials, such as but not limited to, yard waste and food waste products. The compaction cylinder pushes the raw biomass material into the compaction area, thereby compressing the biomass material. When the compaction cylinder is retracted, the hopper can then be refilled and the compaction process repeated as desired up until the point where the compression area is full. The resulting compressed biomass material is removed and can be used as fuel, such as by burning the resulting compressed biomass material in a fireplace or wood burning stove.

A loading elevator mounted to the side of the bag loading machine feeds the bulk material into the chamber.
