Abstract: A filter structure capable of efficiently separating water and oil using wettability is provided. The filter structure includes a first filter layer including a plurality of openings and a second filter layer including a plurality of openings and positioned so as to be overlapped with the first filter layer at a distance from each other. The first filter layer and the second filter layer include surfaces each having a dual-scale protrusion and depression structure as a combination of a micro-scale structure and a nano-scale structure, and thus have superhydrophilicity and selectively allow water from a water and oil mixture to pass therethrough.

Abstract: A male pot for presses for pressing cacao and oil seed has a body provided, on the opposite surfaces thereof facing the press pots, with a disc-shaped element rigid with the body and defining channels for draining therefrom the liquid portion separated by the pressed seed mass, a fine filtering cloth to be mounted on the edge of the press being associated with the disc-shaped element.

Abstract: A novel filter bag assembly (10) which may be used in a press (12) for squeezing juice from fruit. The bag assembly facilitates the discharge of a press cake (PC) from within the bag when it is inverted. The bag assembly includes a bag (50) and an inner liner made from a plurality of flaps (64, 65, 66), there being at least two flaps on each of the wide sides (58, 60) of the bag, the flaps being arranged in a tiered fashion so that the lower edge of one flap will overlie the top edge of an adjacent flap. The bag assembly is utilized with a press having a plurality of press racks or plates (14) which are mounted for movement towards and away from each other and also for movement from an upright normal position to an inverted position, each rack carrying first mounting structure (68) on the top edge (14.1) of the rack, the bag assemblies being provided with second mounting structure which cooperate with the first mounting structure so that the bag assemblies may be supported by and between adjacent racks.

Abstract: A filter press has at least one support wall and at least one filter element adjacent the wall and in turn having an outer peripheral frame secured to the wall, a generally planar central panel within the frame and having a back face turned toward and forming a compartment with the wall and a front face turned away from the wall, and a deformable connecting web between the panel and the outer periphery and extending at an acute angle to the plane of the panel. The web and frame form a V-shaped groove having a pair of flanks. A filter cloth overlies the front face and a fluid under pressure can be forced into the compartment to press the panel forward and deform the web such that its flanks meet. The web is formed with thickened ridges extending generally parallel to the adjacent frame.

Abstract: Composite, unbreakable plates for filter-presses are formed by the firm assembly of, in succession for each plate, a first thin frame 1 collecting the filtrates, a grooved resilient membrane 4 to squeeze the cake, a second thin frame 3 forming a chamber for the fluid inflating the membranes, a second similar membrane, and a third thin frame similar to the first frame. The filtration composite plate cooperates with a frame or is a recess plate which is spaced for unloading of the cakes collected. Each plate or frame has a small jack operating between small extensions at the top of the frames or on top of the plates for separating the plates.

Abstract: A housing block with a first passage and a second passage extending parallel to the first passage is attached to each membrane filter plate. A piston is mounted slidably in the first passage and a spacing bolt is positioned slidably in the second passage. A first circumferential groove which is connected with a compression compartment between elastic membranes extending radially exteriorly is introduced into the center of the first passage. The piston has a plurality of, advantageously four, axially extending piston grooves which connect with the circumferential groove in the open configuration and because of that the above mentioned compression compartment is connected with the surrounding atmosphere. The operation of the pistons is positively actuated by a counterweight and the sealing bolts are positioned in succession in a row. The motion of these spacing bolts is bounded by a stop piece.

Abstract: The invention relates to an improvement of the construction of filter plates which are mounted on a filter press. The filter plates comprises a frame (1), a flat filtrate drainage guide member (3, 41, 52) disposed in the frame (1), and a supporting member (5, 5d, 40, 48, 53) for movably supporting the filtrate drainage guide member in the frame (1). The filtrate drainage guide member (3, 41, 52) can be prevented from being broken if filtration pressure applied to one face of the filtrate drainage guide member (3, 41, 52) of the filter plate (2) is much different from that applied to the other face of the filtrate drainage guide member (3, 41, 52) because the filtrate drainage guide member (3, 41, 52) is movably provided in the frame (1).

Abstract: There is disclosed a filtering method comprising using a filter-press-type device in the chambers whereof filtering means divide a compartment for material to be filtered from a filtrate-collecting compartment, compressing the possibly-washed material to be filtered by reducing the volume of the compartments for material to be filtered, discharging washing solute and filtrate which have passed through the filtering means, and dismantling said filter-press. The method makes use of filter means which are resistant and undistortable under the method conditions, and retains the filtering means in a relative position to the filtering chamber axis which is identical during all the filtering steps.

Abstract: The press wall is provided for a filter element of a filter press comprising a plurality of filter elements clamped together edgewise forming filter chambers for the suspension to be filtered. A filter element carries on one or both sides a press wall is attached edgewise with it which is movable by a pressurizing medium into the filter chamber. Each press wall has a plurality of sectional projections overlayed with a filter cloth on their wall surfaces directed toward the filter chamber which form a drainage system under the filter cloth. The press wall has an edge adjacent an edge region facilitating its connection to the filter element and a wall strip extending along this edge region. Abstract: An automated plate and frame type of pressure filter comprises a plurality of vertically superimposed horizontal shells, each vertically adjacent pair of which having a horizontal filter media belt sandwiched therebetween. All shells but the bottom shell are movable vertically by a pair of lift cylinders to separate opposed pairs and allow the filter belts to be indexed horizontally for cleaning. On completion of the belt cleaning cycle, the shells are pressed together by the double-acting lift cylinders which temporarily over-compress seals on the edges of the shells, allowing a structurally reinforced mechanical locking system to engage which opposes and resists the substantial shell-separating forces generated by the subsequently applied filtration pressure.

The apparatus comprises supporting means for supporting the apparatus so that it can be moved longitudinally of the plate filter press, and a manually-operable, power-drivable device including first and second members capable of engaging plates of the plate filter press and movable relative to one another by a source of power along a line of action which, when the apparatus is in use is parallel to, or substantially parallel to, the plate filter press. The arrangement is such that, in use, the device can be rotated or swung in order to bring the first and second members into and out of engagement with plates of the plate filter press and, when in engagement with plates of the plate filter press, the device can be operated to cause movement of the first and second members relative to one another and hence movement of one or more plates of the plate filter press.

Abstract: A filter press plate for layer and settling filters having an open frame of stainless steel and at least one partition plate of corrosion resistance material detachably supported within the frame by means of cooperating lugs and recesses on the mutually facing edges of the at least one partition plate and frame, sufficient clearance space being provided between the peripheral edge of the at least one partition plate and the adjacent frame edges as to accommodate any difference in the heat expansions thereof at the maximum temperature to which the filter press plate is to be exposed.
