  • Patent number: 5983788
Abstract: An apparatus for simultaneously recycling a plurality of used oil filters has a rectangular shaped compartment having a bottom, a top, opposite sides, and first and second ends. A first powered plunger is associated with the compartment above the top thereof to be moved downwardly toward the bottom to compress a plurality of used oil filters against the bottom. A second powered plunger is associated with the first end of the compartment and is adapted to be moved longitudinally in the compartment towards the second end. A dam member extends laterally across the compartment adjacent the second end so that the second powered plunger can compress a plurality of used oil filters against the dam member. A method of simultaneously recycling a plurality of used oil filters involves placing a plurality of the filters into a rectangular compartment having a top, opposite sides, a bottom, and first and second ends.

  • Patent number: 5974959
Abstract: An oilseed press of the present invention is adapted to extract oil from oilseeds. The oilseed press includes a base plate having a raised surface with straight and tapered edges. A cylindrical sleeve also has a tapered edge at one end and is adapted to slide over the raised portion of the base plate forming a tight fit between the tapered portions and forming a gap between the straight edge and the sleeve. A plunger is adapted to slide within the sleeve. By applying pressure to the plunger the oilseeds are crushed between the plunger and the raised surface of the base plate. Oil collects within the gap and exits the gap through a notch formed in the tapered surface where it collects in a well. The pressure is applied by a linear actuator having a rubber bumper assembly. When the clutch of the linear actuator begins to slip, the bumper assembly maintains a high pressure on the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5899141
Abstract: An oil filter crusher includes a frame, a threaded drive screw, and a ram assembly, but does not include any actuator for driving the screw. Rather, a first end of the drive screw has a drive head to which a user may couple a conventional wrench, such as a pneumatic impact wrench of the type commonly used in automotive service centers. A thrust bearing assembly couples the second end of the drive screw to the ram assembly. A threaded portion of the drive screw engages a threaded opening in a portion of the frame. The ram assembly thus moves in an axial direction in response to rotation of the drive screw with respect to the frame. Rotating the drive screw in one direction moves it toward the filter to be crushed, and rotating it in the opposite direction moves it away from the filter.

Abstract: A dispensing mechanism is primarily intended for dispensing food products, such as ice cream, in semi-solid form. The machine has particular application in dispensing portion-sized containers of product. The containers (10) are filled with product through an open end which is then fitted with a closure member (11). The containers are then located in a discharge unit (25, 29) and the container (10) or the closure member (11) is deformed on operation of the unit. The product is discharged through an outlet which may be in the closure member or in the container.

  • Patent number: 5791237
Abstract: A garlic press is described which utilizes a unique grater plate comprising a plurality of spaced apart drain holes and a plurality of conical projections. A corresponding press plate contains numerous recesses to receive the projections to facilitate the pressing of the garlic by penetrating the skin of the garlic clove. The garlic press may use a clean-out tool which includes a plurality of clean-out pins for engaging the drain holes in the grater plate. The tool can be stored by clipping it to one of the handles of the press when not in use. The pins of the clean out tool are a fixed length between three in four times of thickness of the grater plate. Alternatively, the clean out tool can be affixed to the press unit opposite the press plate with the top presser unit rotated about 270 degrees from a closed position to a fully open position, allowing the clean out pins to enter through the drain holes.
