Abstract: This invention relates to heat transfer presses and more particularly to the transferring of a colored picture printed on paper to polyester knit goods by means of heat and pressure. The polyester cloth heat softens while the ink vaporizes and passes through the intercies of the cloth. The cooling of the cloth locks the vapors in the material producing the effect of a dyeing process.
Abstract: An apparatus for introducing waste or the like into a collecting container is associated with a load hopper adapted to receive the waste, and comprises a pair of gripping members for transferring the waste from the load hopper to the collecting container. The gripping members, which are adapted to grip and to compress consecutive portions of waste between themselves and forward these portions to the collecting container, are movable, preferably synchronously and substantially in a common plane, towards and away from each other, as well as towards and away from the collecting container.
Abstract: An apparatus for effecting the coloration of synthetic textile materials, at a reduced pressure, by a transfer process which comprises a pair of opposed rigid platens mounted for relative movement towards and away from each other, means for heating at least one of said platens to a temperature above 100.degree.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the baling of solid waste. The system includes opposed compaction platens which operate to compress waste material within a cavity. The platens also act to eject the bale from the cavity for tying and easy handling. The system further provides for the introduction of more than one charge of material to form a single bale. A hydraulic system is employed within the baling system which allows the platens to cooperate together to present a compressed bale to the tying area under compression and hooks are also employed which both weigh the compacted bale and provide easy forklift removal thereof.
Abstract: A mechanism for forming seals at spaced points along the length of a body of web material moved through the mechanism is comprised of two sealing jaws and a simple device for opening and closing the jaws whereby the mechanism consists of a small number of parts and may be made at a relatively low cost and to have a relatively light weight. The jaws are slidably supported relative to a base for pure linear motion and are moved between their open and closed conditions by an air cylinder or other fluid actuator which is unfixed to and floats relative to the base.

Abstract: A device for crushing cans having two crushing members having handles, the members being adapted to be moved downwardly onto a can supported on a base member, the crushing members being hinged to opposite ends of the base member. The crushing members first collapse the can ends, and as they are moved farther downwardly, flatten the entire can.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for use in a rolling mill in compacting an upstanding cylindrical product coil. The apparatus includes a compacting station having a base platen divided into laterally spaced sections and an overlying vertically movable upper platen. A transport mechanism is employed to carry a coil laterally from a receiving station into the compacting station at an operative position between the platens. The transport mechanism includes a mandrel extending axially through the coil and an elevator head which is held by the mandrel in a raised position supporting the coil bottom at a level above the base platen. Thereafter, a lowering of the upper platen is accompanied by a corresponding gradual axial retraction of the mandrel and a lowering of the elevator head to the level of the base platen. This results in an axial compaction of the coil between the platens while the mandrel continues to provide internal support for the coil.
Abstract: This invention is directed to an apparatus and method wherein relatively large bulky pieces of scrap metal can be, substantially, simultaneously, divided or separated into smaller pieces of scrap metal and then compressed into smaller and more dense units of scrap metal. In compressing the bulky scrap metal into smaller and more dense units of scrap metal, the grade and quality of the scrap metal is increased so as to be more, economically, valuable.
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for loading goods on a pallet.Said apparatus comprises a frame, a packed commodity dropping opening formed in said frame, a number of carriage rollers mounted for movement on said packed commodity dropping opening between the front and rear edges of said opening to close and open the opening, a fixed stopper disposed forwardly of said packed commodity dropping opening, a movable stopper disposed rearwardly of said packed commodity dropping opening, an elevational platform elevationally mounted beneath said packed commodity dropping opening and adapted to move upwardly and downwardly while supporting a pallet thereon, and a presser mounted above said packed commodity dropping opening and supported for vertical movement by a cylinder to press against bags holding commodities therein and supported by said carriage rollers.
