  • Patent number: 8181569
Abstract: A debris removal and compacting tool includes a lifting device having a flexible sheet with a first edge secured to a first support member, a second edge secured to a second support member, and a compaction device including a first surface attachable to the lifting device and a second surface for contacting the loose material within the receptacle. A fastening mechanism is provided to removably secure the lifting device to the compaction device. During use, a user engages the first and second support members and places the sheet into contact with the material, utilizes the support members to move the sheet to consolidated and maneuver the loose material. The lifting device is placed within the interior of the receptacle, and the material is released into the receptacle. The compacting device is then placed into contact with the material to compact it within the receptacle to achieve better receptacle utilization.

  • Patent number: 8156863
Abstract: A manually-actuated waste compressing system includes a waste receptacle; a waste bag; a lid removably mated to the waste receptacle and a compression implement. The manually-actuated compression implement includes an elongated dowel and a disc, and is centrally aligned within an inner perimeter of the waste receptacle and linearly reciprocated along a linear travel path of the waste receptacle to compress garbage contained within the receptacle. A light source is electrically communicated by a pair of contacts and alerts a user when an undesirable compression of the garbage is reached. The apparatus provides the benefit of compacting garbage without having to make direct contact therewith thus allowing more garbage to be stored within the waste receptacle before disposal. The light source additionally ensures that the apparatus may not be unduly damage by excessive pressure when compacting garbage.

  • Patent number: 7461592
Abstract: A wall mountable can crushing apparatus for self-feeding and rapidly repeating manual crushing of beverage cans or the like through user striking includes a housing section for feeding cans through a chute and detaining cans in a crush chamber before crushing. A punch pad for receiving the user strikes is attached to a movable portion carrying a crush piston from a retracted position into a crush position driven into contact with a can in a crush chamber. The piston is biased to be returned to the retracted position after a can is crushed and a discharge allows a crushed can to freefall out of the apparatus. Novelty features such as a pressure activated sound card or advertising mounts may be added to the can crusher for promotional appeal.

  • Patent number: 7448318
Abstract: A machining waste metal recycling machine has an in-feed hopper. The hopper uses paired augers to move the waste metal through the hopper to a cutting and transporting auger. The hopper augers are powered independently from each other, and may be individually reversed or reversed as a group to clear jams. In the event a jam is not cleared through one or more reversal cycles, the remaining augers may be operated to clear the hopper, thereby avoiding the need for manual unloading. Within the hopper are one or more shear bars that are provided to sever bunches or bundles of machining waste and thereby clear tangles which might otherwise jam the augers. The cutting and transporting augers ultimately feed a reciprocating compactor having a movable gate with one or more grooves for controlled drainage of machining oil and other liquid, as the machining waste metal is compressed into pellets.

  • Patent number: 7424850
Abstract: The instant application relates to a fiber bale and a method for producing the same. The instant fiber bale includes a highly compressed hexahedral fibrous material substantially free of disrupting curvatures on a top side or a bottom side. The highly compressed hexahedral fibrous material has a packing density of at least 300 kg/m3. The method for producing a fiber bale according to instant invention includes the following steps: (1) providing a press for producing a highly compressed hexahedral fibrous material comprising at least one convex bale platen; (2) filling the press with the fibrous material; (3) pressing the fibrous material via the press; (4) thereby forming the highly compressed hexahedral fibrous material; (5) packaging the highly compressed hexahedral fibrous material with a wrapping material; and (6) securing the wrapping material thereby producing the fiber bale.
