Abstract: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a high-strength composite sheet, in which a peroxide-containing polymer film is used to allow uniform molecular weight distribution and improved embeddability. The method includes: attaching a peroxide-containing polymer film to one or both sides of a reinforcement material; pressing the peroxide-containing polymer film using a heating press such that the peroxide-containing polymer film is embedded into the reinforcement material, to thereby form a composite film; and cooling the pressed composite film using a cooling press.

Abstract: A calendering method and calender in which a web material is passed through a calender, the calender nip being defined between a heatable hard roll and an endless, flexible and substantially non-compressible calendering belt. The heatable roll is heated in order to plasticize the surface layer of the web and the web is brought into contact with the heatable roll before the calendering of the web. After the preliminary contact of the web with the heatable roll a press treatment proper is applied to the web to be calendered in two stages. First a deformation is produced in the web in a press stage, after that the deformation that was produced is allowed to be reversed partially in a reversing stage and then a new deformation is produced in the web by pressing the web again in a finishing stage.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing calendered paper by an on-line manufacturing system comprising at least a paper machine and a multi-nip calender. The method comprises following steps: removing water from a formed paper web by pressing, drying the pressed paper web by at least one dryer, calendering the dried web by the multi-nip calender, measuring a cross-machine moisture profile or a variable relative thereto, and altering the moisture of the web so that the moisture profile of the web in the cross-direction is even when the web enters the first nip of the calender.

Abstract: A lamination machine for adhesively heat laminating adjacent surfaces of two lengths of material to each other. The machine includes a flatbed pre-laminating station with upper and lower pre-lamination conveyor belts and banks of heater components immediately above and below. At least one pre-lamination belt is vertically movable to establish and adjust a gap between belts while its associated bank of heating elements is vertically pressuredly movable to thereby tightly maintain proximity of heater elements, belts, and laminate materials. Situated immediately downstream is a pressure roller independently vertically movable to establish and adjust laminate gap distance and, during lamination operation, tensioned against a lower conveyor belt guide roller and movable by a roller pressure driver toward the guide roller.
Abstract: A lamination machine for adhesively heat laminating adjacent surfaces of two or more layers of material to each other. The machine includes upper and lower opposing conveyor belts disposed one above the other to form a lamination passage therebetween and through which layers of material travel during lamination. At least one pressure roller is tensioned against the layers to be laminated. A heating module is disposed between the entrance and pressure roller, while a cooling module is disposed between the pressure roller and an exit. The heating module provides a plurality of rigidly maintained single-structure extruded heater components for melting an adhesion constituent disposed between the layers of material in preparation for lamination.
Abstract: A method for treating wood sheets in which individual sheets coming out of a dryer are sent to a continuous press to have them pass from a first temperature to a second temperature lower than the first while holding them under pressure in the passage. In accordance with this method the wood sheet treatment plant comprises a dryer (12,112) at the outlet of which there is a continuous press (13,113) with pressing tables (17,116,117) with controlled temperature to have the individual wood sheets pass from the first temperature to the second temperature while being kept under pressure during the passage.
Abstract: A double press for making and/or coating of web-shaped or plate-shaped workpieces of all types includes a reaction zone in which the pressure load of the workpiece passing through the press, and the intensity of the heat transfer or the heat removal are designed to be adjustable for individual products over an extended range. Between the pressing rolls (9) and the pressure plate (6), there are disposed bearing rollers (10) associated with the pressing rolls. A liquid pressure-transmitting medium flows turbulently in a short circulatory loop through the pressure chamber and a heating or cooling unit (13) located outside the pressure chamber. The double band presses can be employed in the furniture and electrical industry as well as in other branches of industry where laminated materials are used or processed.
Abstract: A double-belt system for processing viscous melts includes a driven upper belt having a lower working run, and a driven lower belt having an upper working run spaced beneath the lower working run to form a gap therewith for receiving a viscous melt. A gap-adjusting mechanism includes upper rollers engaging an upper surface of the lower working run, and lower rollers engaging a lower surface of the upper working run. A distance between the upper rollers and lower rollers is adjustable to vary a size of the gap. A compensation mechanism is disposed over the lower working run to apply an upward force thereto for pulling the lower working run against the upper rollers, thereby resisting sagging of the lower working run. At least one delivery mechanism applies a temperature-controlled liquid across an entire width of the lower working run for controlling a temperature thereof. The liquid is extracted by an extraction mechanism disposed downstream of the delivery mechanism.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating a fiber paper web in a press device wherein the web is guided through a press nip form between a press roll and a backing element in the form of a backing roll, and wherein the press roll includes a surrounding roll jacket comprised of plastic and a stationary cross head axially traversing the roll jacket. Preserving the roll jacket by cooling the roll jacket at least areawise in the axial direction of the roll jacket which increases the abrasion resistance of the roll jacket. Various devices for cooling the roll jacket include spraying coolant at the outer surface of the roll jacket, spraying coolant at the surface of a felt belt which then engages the roll jacket in a press nip, blowing air into the outlet end of the press nip between the roll jacket and the felt belt and/or blowing air into the space surrounding the outer surface of the roll jacket, e.g., the interior of the loop of the felt belt or the interior of a liquid collecting pan surrounding the roll jacket.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying variable pressure to a surface. The apparatus includes a frame secured to a fixed structure and located proximate to the surface. A foot is mounted for movable relation relative to the frame in a direction substantially perpendicular to the surface. The pressure applicator is connected to a pressure device which biases the applicator away from the surface. The present invention also includes a variable pressure source connected to a control device for varying the pressure supplied to the pressure applicator that is ultimately applied to the surface.
