Patent number: 7601930Abstract: Compression-resistant heating frame, comprising an upper plate and a lower plate which are secured to each other, and a heating layer interposed between the two plates. Force-absorption studs are disposed between the two plates in order to protect the heating layer against deformation by compression of the plates against each other. The studs are distributed to permit regular heating of each plate. The force-absorption studs are distributed at the nodes of a rectangular, hexagonal or centered square network. The force-absorption studs preferably include a flange to distribute the compression force on a metal base sheet which is interposed between the upper plate and the heating means. Thermal insulation material is interposed between the heating layer and the upper plate. The heating layer may comprise a film through which an electric circuit passes in order to produce heating by joule effect.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2004Date of Patent: October 13, 2009Assignee: Bobst S.A.Inventors: Christophe De Gaillande, Michel Piguet

Publication number: 20070266866Abstract: An isostatic press according to the present invention includes a heat insulator that forms a working zone which contains a workpiece, a high pressure vessel that covers the heat insulator, a heating unit that heats the high pressure vessel, and a pressure medium supplying device that can supply an interior of the high pressure vessel with the pressure medium, where a pressure medium introducing space which communicates with said working zone, and can introduce the pressure medium is provided between the heat insulator and the high pressure vessel. The pressure medium introducing space communicates with the working zone via a communication hole formed on a top portion of the heat insulator, and the pressure medium supplying device communicates with the pressure medium introducing space via a pressure medium introducing opening formed on a bottom portion of the high pressure vessel.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2007Publication date: November 22, 2007Applicant: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko Sho (Kobe Steel, Ltd.)Inventors: Takanori YAMAUCHI, Yasuhide Miyashita

Patent number: 6607379Abstract: In a known control method, a large deviation between the temperature of a heating plate and a temperature-setting pattern occurs, and an overshoot or undershoot occurs. Therefore, a workpiece is unstably formed, the number of defective parts is increased and the productivity is decreased. Any two temperatures from among the temperature of the heating medium in the inlet manifold 5 that distributes and supplies the heating medium to each heating plate, the temperature of the heating medium in the outlet manifold 8 that collects the heating medium discharged from the heating plates 4 and the temperature of the heating plates 4, are detected. Then, a temperature value is obtained by selecting any one of the two temperatures based on a temperature-setting pattern 16, or is obtained by obtaining a weighted average of at least two temperatures from among the three temperatures based on preset weights.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2002Date of Patent: August 19, 2003Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Meiki SeisakushoInventors: Kokichi Isobe, Kazuhisa Wanibe

Patent number: 5989471Abstract: A BGA mould assembly which can facilitate high degree of control over the clamping force on BGA substrates of varying thickness. An Independent drive is provided for each of the dual in-line cavity bars which clamp the BGA substrates. The drive mechanism is a wedge press which includes a servo motor, and a linear-conversion mechanism coupled to the servo motor to convert the rotation motion of the motor to a linear movement. An input wedge is coupled to the linear-conversion mechanism such that the input wedge moves correspondingly with the linear movement of the linear conversion mechanism. An output wedge is coupled to the cavity bar and positioned such that a horizontal movement by the input wedge causes the output wedge to move downwards. A roller cage is provided at the top and bottom of the input wedge to reduce friction.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1997Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Advanced Systems Automation LimitedInventors: Tiang Siong Lian, Soon Chye Lian, Zhen Hua He

Patent number: 5907995Abstract: A continuous, multiple-stage process for thermally treating the surface of friction linings by pressing them against heated units and cooled units. The total length of the transport and pressing phases of each stage taken together corresponds to the continuous production cycle of the linings. The scorching press for carrying out the process is made of modules, so that heated and cooled units may be easily exchanged for each other. A heat insulation reduces energy tosses and keeps constant the surface temperature of the heated units.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1997Date of Patent: June 1, 1999Assignee: Rutgers Automotive AktiengesellschaftInventors: Thomas Zimmer, Oliver Lauth, Norbert Jenniges, Ulrich Steinkamper

Patent number: 5824246Abstract: A method of forming a thermoactive binder composite product is performed by injecting a hot dry gas to activate the thermoactive binder. In the preferred embodiment, the hot dry gas is air. The method is particularly beneficial as applied to forming thermoplastic composite products and particularly thermoplastic/cellulose composites. Also part of the present invention is a two stage pressing process in which hot gas is injected during the first stage and the press charge is precompressed. The press charge is then placed in a second consolidation press where the hot gas is no longer injected and it is consolidated and cooled. Machinery for practicing the method includes a platen with a platen press which includes upper and lower platens with a plurality of hot air injection jets disposed on the surface of each platen. The platens are spaced apart and surrounded on the sides by an air-permeable containment shell structure to form a compression chamber to hold the base material to be pressed.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: October 20, 1998Assignee: Engineered CompositesInventor: William R.
