Patent number: 7546965Abstract: The invention is a domestic plastic bottle shredding machine. The machine has a hydraulic ram assembly located above the shredding mechanism so that any plastic, glass, paper, or aluminum that is introduced will be flattened prior to being shredded. A waste bin is located beneath the shredding mechanism such that the storage process is driven by gravity. The machine is designed for domestic uses such that the shape of the machine resembles a small garbage can. The primary feature of this invention is to aid the recycling process by shredding plastic, glass, paper, or aluminum in advance of the recycling process.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2007Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Inventor: John W. Patent number: 7540235Abstract: A method for pressing together empty containers, especially drinks bottles or cans made of plastic, especially PET or tinplate, comprises a housing with a fill opening and an outlet, a cutting and pressing disposed in the housing, and a device for driving and controlling the cutting and pressing unit. The cutting and pressing unit contains at least two rollers whose axes of rotation are arranged at a distance from each other. Each roller has at least two sections. Adjacent sections along the same roller have different diameters. When the rollers are mounted, the sections having the larger diameter are offset relative to each other and the peripheral surfaces thereof partially overlap with each other, forming cutting disks whose peripheral surfaces have at least one groove.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2004Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Inventor: Hermann Schwelling

Patent number: 7536948Abstract: A can crushing device, which crushes the can along its cylindrical axis, supports the can on a can platform, dents the side of the can and flattens the can. A can chute or feed hopper feeds cans to the crush chamber, while various collection devices receive the crushed cans.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2008Date of Patent: May 26, 2009Inventor: Raleigh L. Patent number: 7490545Abstract: A system and apparatus for crushing waste material that is manual and portable. On the underside of the lid to the apparatus is a detachable handle with a plate attached thereto that has a series of rough ridges. The handle can descend down the height of the apparatus through a pair of parallel channels located down the front and rear of the apparatus. At the bottom of the apparatus on the interior is a mating plate that has a second series of rough edges that fit like a zipper with the ridges of the top plate for crushing of waste. The handle is lockable through latches to the lid of the apparatus when not in use. A second lock holds the handle in place on the rear of the apparatus when not in use. An interior removable basket with foldable handles and/or gripping holes on the side. The interior basket has channels on the front and rear walls that correspond to the main body portion.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2008Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Inventor: Sossy L. Baghdoian

Patent number: 7475633Abstract: An exemplary method, apparatus and system of crushing a bottle may include a barrel for surrounding a bottle. The barrel may have a main body with a threaded outer surface. A plate may be slidably engaged with an inner surface of the barrel at a first end of the barrel. A nut may be operably engaged with the threads on the outer surface of the barrel. A tab portion may be integral with the plate and the tab portion engaged the nut. A cap may be repeatably attachable to an end of the barrel opposite the plate. Movement of the nut may facilitate movement of the plate and moving the plate in the direction of the lid may crush a bottle within the barrel.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2007Date of Patent: January 13, 2009Inventor: Morgan Weinberg

Patent number: 7461592Abstract: A wall mountable can crushing apparatus for self-feeding and rapidly repeating manual crushing of beverage cans or the like through user striking includes a housing section for feeding cans through a chute and detaining cans in a crush chamber before crushing. A punch pad for receiving the user strikes is attached to a movable portion carrying a crush piston from a retracted position into a crush position driven into contact with a can in a crush chamber. The piston is biased to be returned to the retracted position after a can is crushed and a discharge allows a crushed can to freefall out of the apparatus. Novelty features such as a pressure activated sound card or advertising mounts may be added to the can crusher for promotional appeal.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2007Date of Patent: December 9, 2008Inventor: Colin A. Patent number: 7444931Abstract: A combination can crushing and retrieving device having a circular or tubular housing containing a plunger and having a rectangular opening in its side wall. The housing has a knife-edged slightly concave indent on the bottom of the housing, which indent generally conforms to the arch section of the necked down portion of a beverage can. When the concave indent is placed on the lip of a can laying on its side and forced down the can will “snap” upright, through the rectangular opening and into the housing. The can is then retained in the housing around the necked down portion by a foam/rubber lining located at the lower inside end of the housing. Then the weighted plunger is forced down onto the can, crushing the can. By placing the end of the device holding the can into a larger receptacle the can may then be ejected from the device by pressing an ejector rod.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2007Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Inventor: Michael Howard Streng

Patent number: 7434506Abstract: A propane bottle recycler comprising a bottle station, first and second propane collection tank, compressor, liquid propane storage tank, bottle crusher, and crushed bottle storage compartment. The bottle station comprises a bottle manifold and bottle station frame, and the bottle manifold is pivotally connected to the bottle station frame. Propane bottles are placed in receiving cavities in the bottle manifold and held in place with cam levers, and the bottle manifold is raised to a vertical position. The propane drains out of the propane bottles, through propane hoses into a propane manifold, into the first and second collection tanks, and to a compressor, which repressurizes the propane. The propane is then stored in a liquid propane storage tank. The used propane bottles are crushed by the bottle crusher and stored in the crushed bottle storage compartment.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2005Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Inventors: Wayne William Wilson, Bradley Morris Fimrite, James Schmid
