Fixed Upper Ram, Lower Movable Receptacle Patents (Class 100/915)
  • Patent number: 7891291
Abstract: A wine making apparatus includes an engaging mechanism for engaging a fermentation tank, and a press mechanism for pressing the wine making ingredients in the tank against an inner surface of the tank. In a described embodiment a tank has a pair of forklift attachment points and a movable platform on a wine press mechanism is adapted for receiving the forklift attachment points. A lifting apparatus raises the platform and tank such that the contents of the tank are crushed by a relatively fixed plate above the tank. A pair of hydraulic rams are connected in series such that fluid output from one raises the other, thereby assuring that the platform and tank are evenly raised.

  • Patent number: 6141945
Abstract: This present invention relates to a multi-unit, automatic machine for compaction, packaging, and disposal of plural types of material such as newspaper, plastic containers, glass bottles, aluminum cans, or other household and commercial waste. Each type of material is automatically processed in a separate unit and than separately packaged and sealed in a special bar coded bag, which is then disposed of the machine. The automatic recycling machine is constructed as an appliance and includes housing with inlet for each material type where material is inserted to a specific unit. The material is crushed and compacted as a movable container is moved upwards towards a static container thus reducing the volume of the material between them. The actuation system consists of double scissors member mechanism and pneumatic actuator connected in between members of the mechanism, thus amplifying the travel of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 5934188
Abstract: An oilseed press of the present invention is adapted to extract oil from oilseeds. The oilseed press includes a base plate having a raised surface with straight and tapered edges. A cylindrical sleeve also has a tapered edge at one end and is adapted to slide over the raised portion of the base plate forming a tight fit between the tapered portions and forming a gap between the straight edge and the sleeve. A plunger is adapted to slide within the sleeve. By applying pressure to the plunger the oilseeds are crushed between the plunger and the raised surface of the base plate. Oil collects within the gap and exits the gap through a notch formed in the tapered surface where it collects in a well. The pressure is applied by a linear actuator having a rubber bumper assembly. When the clutch of the linear actuator begins to slip, the bumper assembly maintains a high pressure on the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5355789
Abstract: A refuse compression apparatus for reducing the volume of a thermal elastic refuse includes a telescopic refuse container which is covered by a bag and is housed in a cylindrical housing and suspended on the top of the cylindrical housing. A top cover box is coupled with the telescopic refuse container and the cylindrical housing so that the bag divides the inner space of the cylindrical housing into a free space inside the bag and an airtight space outside the bag. An air pump provided to connect the airtight space and the outside of the cylindrical housing operates to pressurize the airtight space and cause the bag to press the telescopic refuse container upwardly. Thus, the refuse placed in the telescopic refuse container is pressed against the lower surface of the top cover box and is compressed.

  • Patent number: 5278879
Abstract: A grid crusher apparatus and method are provided for a nuclear fuel rod consolidation system. Spacer grids are crushed within a basket which is then placed in a storage canister. The grid crusher apparatus has a ram assembly and a basket driving mechanism. The ram assembly has a sleeve ram and a central ram. The sleeve ram surrounds the central ram which is longitudinally movable within the sleeve ram. The central ram protrudes from the sleeve ram at a ram contact end and is retractable upon application of a preselected force to the central ram so that the central ram is flush with the sleeve ram at the ram contact end. The basket driving mechanism is configured to move the basket containing a spacer grid towards the ram contact end so that the spacer grid is crushed within the basket. The spacer grid is crushed by the combination of successive forces from the central ram and the sleeve ram, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5259425
Abstract: A method and apparatus for densifying a flexible bulk container with dry or semi-moist flowable material broadly includes a method and apparatus whereby the container and its contents are relatively gradually lifted and then relatively rapidly dropped onto a stop member such as an impact anvil, serving to densify the material contents of the container, or by alternatively compressing the contents thereof for maximum concentration of the container's contents. The apparatus broadly includes a frame which is positioned on top of a load cell or other weighing apparatus, a container supporting member such as a deck, and an impact member such as a post which serves to isolate the load cell from the impact of the container on the impact member. The filling apparatus is constructed whereby the contents of the container may be weighed during densification thereof so that the container may be rapidly and accurately filled without the need to remove it for weighing or to interrupt the densification process.

  • Patent number: 4610199
Abstract: A hydraulic press for compacting drums containing radio-active waste. The press consists essentially of a press table, a set of vertical support pillars connected at the top to a hydraulic cylinder with a ram mounted therein, and of a pressure jacket hydraulically movable in the vertical direction between the ram and the press table along the support pillars. According to the invention, the lower end of the ram is provided with an annular chamber in which the pressure jacket is receivable in a retracted position.
