The first and second layers can be an insert held within the body. The opening allows paste material to flow through the screen printing nozzle to the stencil mask. Also, the second outer layer includes a contact surface adapted to contact the stencil mask. One feature of the invention is that the first layer is softer (has a lower durometer) than the second layer. This allows the second layer to be more durable than the first layer and for the first layer to provide additional flexibility to the second layer. Therefore, the invention provides a nozzle that has the high durability characteristics of a hard outer surface with the compliance of a soft nozzle.

According to the disclosure, the doctor blade rod has a diameter of less than 25 mm. The doctor blade bed is inserted in removable manner into a slot of the support situated on the face thereof. The ratio of the cross-sectional area (measured in mm2) of the doctor blade to the diameter (measured in mm) of the doctor blade rod is less than 60 mm, preferably less than 30 mm. The support is made of a plastic material and is shaped like a clamp having at least one rearward extending clamp limb and one joint location, whereby the holding slot that accommodates the doctor blade bed forms the clamp mouth.

Abstract: An apparatus for preventing media deposition in predetermined locations comprising at least one blocking cap connected to a pressurized squeegee head is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for partially printing a circuit board is disclosed. The method comprises inserting one or more blocking caps inside a pressurized squeegee head and printing with the pressurized squeegee head. In this way, defined areas on the surface of a stencil or screen, over which the blocking caps travel, are skipped. In another embodiment, a new method for manufacturing printed circuit boards is described, comprising placing a component on a circuit board, performing burn-in or testing of the component, partially printing attachment media on the circuit board with a pressurized squeegee head containing one or more blocking caps, and placing additional components on the circuit board. In one embodiment, the circuit board is sold or returned to the circuit board designer before performing the partial printing step.

  • Patent number: 6311614
Abstract: According to the stencil printing machine of the present invention, ink that has entered the gap between a circumferential wall and a stencil sheet is allowed to escape to the outsides of an inner pressing roll in the axis direction. When it reaches the outer circumferential face of an ink free passage section of a screen, the escape ink is allowed to pass through the ink free passage section by a pressing force from the pressure drum, and directed to the inner circumferential side; therefore, it is possible to prevent the escape ink from reaching the right and left ends of the stencil sheet, and consequently to eliminate the limitation to the number of prints in endurance printing processes that is imposed due to ink leakage from the stencil. Moreover, since it is not necessary to form a raised portion along the circumferential face, the printing drum can be easily manufactured at low costs.

  • Patent number: 6223653
Abstract: In a screen printing apparatus for printing a conical object rotatable about a rotation axis (4) by means of a screen member (2) which must perform a circular motion about the cone intersection point (6) of the conical object, this circular motion is reproduced by means of three linear drive devices (14,22) and 24). A first linear drive device (14) produces a translational motion of a U-shaped frame (10), in which the screen member holder (8) is held, in a direction transverse to the rotation axis (4) of the object to be printed. The additional drive devices (22,24) act to superimpose both a translational motion transverse to that of the first linear drive device (14) and a rotary motion of the screen member (2) about its center point (38). The first linear drive (14) and the additional linear drive devices (22,24) are numerically controllable by a computer, in which a predetermined motion course for the screen member is stored.
