Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a pattern is provided, to improve a yield by decreasing the tack time for cleaning a printing plate. The apparatus includes a stage; a substrate loaded on the stage; a printing plate positioned on the stage; a printing unit that prints a printing material patterned by a predetermined pattern of the printing plate on the substrate; and a removing unit having a film so as to remove the unused printing material of the printing plate.

Abstract: A continuous multi-station intaglio printing system enables use of a continuous web of letterhead paper or business card stock to which various indicia of single of multiple colors may be engraved in precise registration and subsequently severed or die cut into individual sheets of letterhead paper or business cards of regular or irregular shape. Each engraving station includes a hydraulic press to perform the engraving operation by means of an engraving die. The engraving die is removably mounted to a support using aligned pins and openings to effect precise registration of the engraving die. Registration of the engraving die, as well as a cutting die, may be precisely obtained with respect to the indicia on the engraved web material using a photo optic sensor for detecting a registration mark on the web material. Precision multi-colored engraving, as well as precision die cutting of the web material may be obtained in a multi-station intaglio printing system.

Abstract: A multicolor engraving system includes a plurality of identical engraving presses mounted in line in a common frame. Each press is hydraulically operated and includes a high speed hydraulic motor for reciprocating its shuttle assembly. A work transfer mechanism moves each workpiece sequentially to the presses and accurately aligns it with the die in each press.

Abstract: An ink transfer arrangement for and a method of transferring ink to an engraved die surface of a reciprocatable die in a printing press of the type including a die drive for reciprocating the die, and a press ram drive for pressing sheet material to be printed against the ink engraved die surface to produce intaglio printing are disclosed. A rotatable inking roller is normally mounted on an ink fountain in inking engagement with a fountain roller also mounted on the fountain. Ink from the fountain is transferred to the fountain roller, and thereupon to the inking roller. The inking roller is mounted for limited displacement relative to the fountain roller in a direction transverse to the axis of rotation of the inking roller.
