Patent number: 8499692Abstract: An anilox printing unit includes, as inking unit rolls, an ink applicator roll and an engraved roll mounted in rapid change roll sockets, for removing the engraved roll from the roll sockets and inserting another engraved roll into the roll sockets by an operator. The engraved roll is hollow and a temperature control fluid flows therethrough. The engraved roll and the ink applicator roll each have bearer rings. A device which presses the bearer rings of one inking unit roll against the bearer rings of the other inking unit roll has springs for compensating for diameter differences as a result of manufacturing tolerances between the bearer rings of the engraved roll and the bearer rings of the other engraved roll and for compensating for thermally induced diameter changes of the bearer rings of the engraved roll. A printing press having an anilox printing unit is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2007Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Gisela Binder, Suat Demir, Jürgen Michels, Ulrich Pföhler, Dieter Schaffrath, Jörg Schilfahrt, Wolfgang Schönberger, Bernhard Schwab, Michael Thielemann

Patent number: 8042467Abstract: A printing press includes a first rotary body with a first bearer ring and a second rotary body with an axle which eccentrically supports a second bearer ring. The second bearer ring is in rolling contact with the first bearer ring and is rotatably coupled to the second rotary body.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2008Date of Patent: October 25, 2011Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AktiengesellschaftInventors: Dieter Schaffrath, Dirk Buchleither, Suat Demir, Jürgen Michels, Roland Müller, Jörg Schilfahrt, Wolfgang Schönberger, Bernhard Schwaab, Michael Thielemann

Patent number: 7555981Abstract: A roller support apparatus includes a compression coil spring, lever, bias canceling member, roller holder, and support. The compression coil spring biases the distribution roller in a direction to come close to the oscillating roller. The lever transmits a biasing force of the compression coil spring to the distribution roller. The bias canceling member cancels bias of the compression coil spring. The roller holder rotatable supports the distribution roller and pivots in accordance with movement of the lever. The support is provided to the roller holder and engages with a shaft portion of the distribution roller. The support brings the outer surface of the distribution roller into contact with the outer surface of the oscillating roller in accordance with pivot motion of the roller holder.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2004Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: Komori CorporationInventor: Nobuaki Saito

Patent number: 6912953Abstract: A roller machine includes a rotatably mounted roller body which can be placed on or against one counter roller. The roller has at least one axis and at least one spring element which is arranged between the roller body and a machine frame. The spring element is disposed between the roller body and the part of the axis which is used to secure the roller.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2002Date of Patent: July 5, 2005Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventor: Horst-Walter Hauer

Patent number: 6736064Abstract: A distribution drive for a roll in a processing machine, and particularly in a press which has an improved axial motion distribution mechanism and which requires little installation space. This is achieved by an input drive mechanism coupled to a drive having at least one pinion gear 8 which is coupled to a gear 10. Arranged on a side face of the gear 10 is a first pin 17 which, together with a second pin 22, forms a rotary joint 20 by the first pin 17 penetrating the second pin 22. Together with a bearing arm 23, the second pin 22 forms a sliding joint 21, with the second pin 22 being accommodated at the ends in the bearing arm 23, and the bearing arm 23 being coupled to the roll 3.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2003Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AGInventor: Claus Simeth

Patent number: 6647878Abstract: An apparatus for applying printed matter to the running web of cigarette paper or the like in a machine for making rod-shaped smokers' products employs a roller train which transfers printing ink from one or more sources to a rotary carrier of one or more stamps serving to apply trademarks, manufacturer's names and/or other printed matter to longitudinally spaced apart portions of the running web. At least one roller of the roller train has a resilient cylindrical outer layer which contacts the peripheral surface of at least one other roller of the train and surrounds an adjustable rotary eccentric which biases the cylindrical outer layer against the at least one other roller with a force determined by a prestressed coil spring. The eccentric is oscillatable axially against the opposition of a second spring, such as a diaphragm spring.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2001Date of Patent: November 18, 2003Assignee: Hauni Mashinenbau AGInventors: Mathias Blau, Wolfgang Steiniger, Hans-Hugo Severin

Patent number: 6343551Abstract: A support structure for a plate cylinder is composed of a pair of support frames; a pair of eccentric slide bearings rotatably supported on the support frames; a pair of eccentric roller bearings rotatably supported by the eccentric slide bearings and rotatably supporting end portions of a shaft of the plate cylinder; dogs and pinions for rotating the eccentric slide bearings relative to the support frames in the same amount; an annular plate, a casing, a drive shaft, a worm wheel, a worm gear, a threaded shaft, a support member, a connecting rod, and a connecting pin for rotating one of the eccentric roller bearings relative to one of the support frames; and an annular plate, a connecting rod, and connecting pins for restraining rotation of the other eccentric roller bearing relative to the other support frame.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2001Date of Patent: February 5, 2002Assignee: Komori CorporationInventors: Jun Kamiyama, Tomoyuki Hayasaka

Patent number: 6178887Abstract: An ink fountain has one side closed by a fountain roller constantly exposed to the ink contained therein. Forming a part of the fountain bottom, a blade assembly defines in combination with the fountain roller an ink outlet which is to be closed and opened as the blade assembly travels toward and away from the fountain roller. Sprung away from the fountain roller, the blade assembly is moved toward the fountain roller against the spring bias by at least two linear actuators such as double-ended-rod fluid actuators spaced from each other in the axial direction of the fountain roller. The output members of the linear actuators, such as the reciprocable cylinders of the double-ended-rod fluid actuators, are rigidly interconnected as by a simple link, being aligned parallel to the fountain roller axis, for synchronous operation, thereby conjointly causing the travel of the blade assembly into leak-free contact with the fountain roller.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1999Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokyo Kikai SeisakushoInventors: Tadashi Hachiya, Masahiko Miyoshi, Yukitoshi Takahashi
