Patent number: 8997650Abstract: An ink supply method in an ink supply apparatus including an ink fountain, a plurality of ink fountain keys, an ink fountain roller, an ink ductor roller, and an ink roller group. An ink film thickness distribution corresponding to an image on a printing plate is formed in the ink roller group. The ink roller group is divided into a plurality of roller subgroups. After or before division, a throw-on operation is performed for at least one of the plurality of roller subgroups, and a plate cylinder on which the printing plate to be used for printing of the next job is mounted. Ink in at least one of the plurality of roller subgroups is supplied to the printing plate mounted on the plate cylinder by rotating the plate cylinder and at least one of the plurality of roller subgroups. An ink supply apparatus is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2013Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Komori CorporationInventors: Akihiro Nakamura, Masahiro Hirano

Patent number: 7908966Abstract: A cylinder, which is part of an inking system or of a dampening system, has a rotary individual drive which is embodied as a drive motor. A changeable drive is also provided. The rotary drive is driven by the drive motors by a bevel or angular gear.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2004Date of Patent: March 22, 2011Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Jochen Sieber, Andreas Ewald Heinrich Bernard, Manfred Herrmann Liebler

Patent number: 7581493Abstract: A device is provided for engaging and/or disengaging a roller with or from a first mating roller. The device includes a second mating roller, with which the roller is engaged, and with a basic unit, with which the roller can be moved to or away from the first mating roller in the circumferential direction of the second mating roller. A process for engaging and/or disengaging a roller of a printing press with or from a first mating roller is provided wherein the roller is engaged with a second mating roller and the roller is guided in the circumferential direction of the second mating roller in the state in which it is engaged with the second mating roller.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2004Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Assignee: WIFAG Maschinenfabrik AGInventors: Andres Miescher, Andreas Zahnd

Patent number: 7555981Abstract: A roller support apparatus includes a compression coil spring, lever, bias canceling member, roller holder, and support. The compression coil spring biases the distribution roller in a direction to come close to the oscillating roller. The lever transmits a biasing force of the compression coil spring to the distribution roller. The bias canceling member cancels bias of the compression coil spring. The roller holder rotatable supports the distribution roller and pivots in accordance with movement of the lever. The support is provided to the roller holder and engages with a shaft portion of the distribution roller. The support brings the outer surface of the distribution roller into contact with the outer surface of the oscillating roller in accordance with pivot motion of the roller holder.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2004Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: Komori CorporationInventor: Nobuaki Saito

Patent number: 6691612Abstract: A driving device for printing machines, having a rod for oscillatingly moving a distributor roller in axial direction, includes a joint via which the rod is connected to the distributor roller, the joint permitting relative movement between the rod and the distributor roller so as to compensate for a displacement of the distributor roller perpendicularly to the axial direction of the distributor roller; and a printing machine having the driving device.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2000Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Bernd Herrmann, Kurt Lötsch, Andreas Schorpp, Hendrik Stemmler

Patent number: 6584902Abstract: A rotary printing press has one or two inking rollers each in rolling engagement with both an ink supply cylinder and a plate cylinder. Each inking roller is identically supported by a first pair of roller support members mounted one adjacent each end of the ink supply cylinder for pivotal motion about the axis of that cylinder, and a second pair of roller support members mounted to the first pair for pivotal motion about an axis parallel to the axis of the ink supply cylinder, the second pair of roller support members rotatably supporting one inking roller therebetween. Adjusting screws act between the two pairs of roller support members for adjustably varying the nip width between the ink supply cylinder and each inking roller.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2002Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokyo Kikai SeisakushoInventors: Yasuo Shibuya, Takeo Nanba

Patent number: 6302019Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting skew settings in a dampener in a printing press. One or more skew adjustment linkages connect skew adjustment rods for the upper and lower dampeners of each printing unit. The linkage ensures that a single movement by the operator will allow adjustment of the skewing of both the upper and lower dampeners at the same time. The linkage or linkages are preferably connected at one end to skew adjustment brackets, which in turn are connected to a skew adjustment rod for one of the upper or lower dampeners. The skew adjustment rod adjusts the amount of skew of associated pan rolls. Movement of the linkage may be controlled by movement of a spring plunger, which is connected to the linkage or linkages. The spring plunger may be spring biased, and may be adjusted and locked into different skew setting positions using a pinhole arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1998Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Roland Thomas Palmatier, Clifford Allen Zabkar, Brian Robert Elkinson, David Charles Burke

Patent number: 6279473Abstract: An inker unit for a printing unit of a web-fed rotary printing press has a pair of ink application rollers in direct contact with a forme cylinder and with a central, ink receiving roller. A pair of inking rollers are also in direct contact with the ink receiving roller, and in indirect contact with the ink application rollers through riding rollers. The ink application rollers are thus inked both directly and indirectly from the ink receiving roller.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1999Date of Patent: August 28, 2001Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Georg Schneider, Willi Albert Peter Kutzner, Wolfgang Otto Reder

Patent number: 6213017Abstract: An ink duct is used with an ink-metering roller of a printing press. The ink duct includes doctor blades and is shiftable for pivoted movement between a working position and an emptying position with at least one of the doctor blades remaining in contact with the ink-metering roller. When the ink duct is in the emptying position, any printing ink in the ink duct is collected in a very low ink collection channel.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Karl Robert Schäfer, Georg Schneider
