  • Publication number: 20080264284
Abstract: A graphic arts die assembly and chase for use in a graphic arts press are disclosed for use in conjunction with a press. The die assembly includes a die plate formed at least partially of ferromagnetic material and a chase with a plurality of magnet assemblies configured to provide a magnetic coupling force to selectively secure the die plate to the chase. The chase includes an actuatable releasing assembly to exert a disengagement force to separate the magnetic securement between the plates.

  • Patent number: 5809876
Abstract: An imprinting system having a print head with a plurality of type for transferring ink from an inked ribbon onto a substrate. A typeholder having an open ended cavity defined by side walls for retaining the plurality of type, wherein the typeholder is removably disposeable in a recess of the print head. At least one side wall portion of the cavity is removably coupleable to the typeholder for permitting insertion and removal of the plurality of type into and from the cavity. And a resilient member protrudes into the cavity from at least one of the side walls, wherein the resilient member biases the plurality of type toward one of other the side walls to prevent shifting of the type in the cavity. A resilient member urges a button protruding from an outer surface of the typeholder into contact with the recess of the print head, and a magnetized striker plate disposed on another outer surface of the typeholder cooperates to securely retain the typeholder in the recess of the print head.

  • Patent number: 5136936
Abstract: An embossing registration system is provided wherein an embossing block has at least one adjusting means in each corner of the block. A minimum of three adjusting means can be used to adjust the block left to right, backward and forward and to skew the block in any position needed to line up with printed material. Each corner adjuster includes a spring biased adjustment stud having a tapered annular groove such that the stud has an hour-glass shape. A set screw for each adjuster has a cone point which mates with the tapered groove. Turning the set screw forces the cone point into or out of the tapered groove which forces the adjustment stud in a perpendicular direction with respect to the axis of the set screw. Each adjustment stud may be spring biased so that each stud maintains a constant pressure on the side walls of the block cavity while positioning of the block takes place.

  • Patent number: 5095830
Abstract: A die carrier combined with a die board where the die carrier is positioned within an opening formed in the die board. The die carrier includes a block having a peripheral groove, an extendable strip fitted within the groove, and a screen carried by the block and engageable with the extendable strip to move the strip outwardly from the block. By virtue of the movement of the block within the die board opening, the die carrier may be positioned to register the embossing components.

  • Patent number: 4869168
Abstract: The present invention is a stamp cartridge comprising a casing having a predetermined number of channels for receiving a plurality of stampers and a holder portion for holding one of the stampers. The closed side of the casing has a plurality of holes opened therein, each hole being correspondent to one of the stampers and allowing one end of each stamper to extend into one of the holes. The end surface of one end of each stamper is flush with the external surface of the closed side of the casing. Alternatively, the end of each stamper is formed as a post which not only extends into one of the holes but also protrudes beyond the same to the outside of the casing. Therefore, the stamper can be pushed out by pressing one end of the stamper moving it along the channel of the the casing.

  • Patent number: 4867668
Abstract: A pair of mold bases are provided, each of which possesses a nest-mold insert hole which is open in one direction perpendicular to the mold-closing direction and capable of receiving a plurality of nest molds. The plurality of nest molds, with contacting wall faces between adjacent members, are inserted into the insert hole of each mold base from the open side of the insert hole. In order that the nest molds will not slip in the mold-closing direction, a wall-face engagement is applied between the nest molds and the inner wall of the insert hole and between the nest molds themselves. Mutually corresponding nest molds on both the mold bases, except substitute nest molds, form the cavity for molded products. The nest molds put in the insert hole are fixed by being pushed by a fixing device from the open side of the insert hole.

  • Patent number: 4537124
Abstract: An embosser combined with a steel rule die for embossing sheets of stock where the embosser includes an insert positioned within an opening formed in the steel rule die. Threaded bores are formed in the steel rule die and extended into its opening. Screws are threaded into the threaded bores and contact the embosser insert such that longitudinal movement of the screw in the bore is translated into lateral movement of the insert for adjustable registration of the embosser with the print on a sheet of stock.
