Patent number: 5778790Abstract: A method permitting a fine artist to transfer a computer generated image to a lithographic plate is provided. Any computer image may be utilized including photographs or drawings which have been electronically scanned into the computer. The computer image transfer method includes the use of a petroleum distillate as a solvent. The solvent acts as a transfer agent to transfer the toner from a laser printed image to the lithographic plate. A computer image is generated and printed on a sheet (separation) through the use of a laser printer. Four separations are laser printed in accordance with the CMYK protocols. A RBG separation may alternatively be employed. Each separation has the following steps performed thereon. The separation is placed face down on the lithographic limestone or the like. A porous sheet, with sufficient quantities of solvent entrained therein, is placed on the plate. A piece of metal foil is then placed on the porous sheet. The tympan is then placed.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1996Date of Patent: July 14, 1998Inventor: Richard Peterson

Patent number: 3998159Abstract: A machine for copying of patterns for use in the garment industry incorporating the spirit duplicating process. The machine incorporates a pair of nip rollers between which is engaged a master pattern paper and copy paper. The copy paper is fed from a supply roll over a spirit applicator and is wrapped around the bottom nip roller, wet side out, contacts the master pattern paper at the nip, and then travels to a rewind roll. The master pattern paper travels from a supply spindle to the nip and then to a take-up spindle. The nip rollers are separated by a cam action. Control of the operations of the machine is effected by a single control arm which, in its rear position, separates the nip rollers and engages drive means to rewind the master pattern. In the forward position, the control arm brings the nip rollers together, engages drive means for the take-up spindles for the master pattern paper and the copy paper and activates the drive for the nip rollers and the spirit wetting roller.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1974Date of Patent: December 21, 1976Assignee: Image Duplicating Systems Inc.Inventor: Oscar Lande

Patent number: 3962489Abstract: A copy sheet that is capable of being printed by a reaction which requires the presence of three components. One of these components is carried by a printing master and another of these components is supplied to the copy sheet immediately prior to the printing operation. The third component is carried by the copy sheet in the form of a layer provided on one side of a carrier sheet forming part of the copy sheet. The printing master is placed on a rotating drum and the layer on the carrier sheet is moistened to supply the still missing component and is thereafter urged into contact with the printing master by means of a counter-pressure roller. If, in making a series of prints on a number of copy sheets, one copy sheet in the sequence should fail to be conveyed to the printing location, the rotating printing master will contact the counter-pressure roller and apply thereto the component carried thereby.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1974Date of Patent: June 8, 1976Inventor: Gerhard Ritzerfeld
