Press Part Or Attachment Patents (Class 101/480)
  • Patent number: 6536343
Abstract: A printing press includes a plate cylinder, a plate making unit, and an adjuster. The plate cylinder is rotatably supported by a frame and has an outer surface on which a plate is mounted. The plate making unit performs plate making for the plate mounted on the plate cylinder. The plate making unit has a support member supported by the frame and an exposure unit. The exposure unit is supported by the support member to be movable in a direction to come close to and separate from the outer surface of the plate cylinder, and has a head which irradiates the plate with a laser beam to print an image on the plate. The adjuster is supported by the plate making unit to be detachable to adjust a position of the exposure unit with respect to the support member.

  • Patent number: 6530323
Abstract: A detachable inking device for a flexographic printing machine, a manipulating device for removing and replacing the inking device, a cleaning device, and a repair station for refurbishing the inking device. The inking device itself is a chambered doctor blade (9) mounted on two lever-supports (13, 14) through which ink is supplied from a reservoir. The lever-supports are rigidly attached to a shaft (11) which is pivotable between the frames (34) of the flexographic printing machine. The chambered doctor blade has a body (25) made of light material, crossed at one of its ends by a tube (26) emerging from the bottom (28) of body (25), and at the other end by a tube (40) having its opening part (29) at level with the bottom (28) of the body (25). The latter rests on seals (38, 39) secured to the lever-supports (13, 14) to which are attached centering and fixing means (17, 18) allowing a quick loosening of the chambered doctor blade (9) without the help of any tool.

  • Patent number: 6514623
Abstract: A wear-resistant, ink-repellent coating, for printing-press components, and in particular, web-fed printing presses. In order to provide a seal for this low-wear coating which results in a permanent ink-repellent surface quality and which additionally has a high resistance to standard cleaning agents used in printing technology, the printing-press component which is to be protected is first provided with oxide ceramic or hard metal layer. This layer may be applied by thermal spraying. In addition, the component is treated with a polyorganosiloxane sealant, particularly polyhydridomethylsiloxane, including the necessary heat-curing at moderate temperatures of from 100° C. to 170° C. so as to prevent ink deposition. The sealing may also take place after the wear-resistant layer has undergone a grinding and polishing treatment.

Abstract: A feed assembly is provided which feeds a pressure medium to a cylinder and fixes the cylinder in position, independently of whether or not the pressure medium to be connected is supplied. A feed part can be placed on a feed opening of the cylinder by an actuating element which can be controlled independently of any control of the pressure medium. An outlet of the feed part and the feed opening engage one another and lock the cylinder against rotation.

Abstract: The invention provides a fibre reinforced composite, such as a glass-fibre composite in which one or more layers (4) carry an image or design. The image or is preferably printed onto one or more layers (4) of the composite which are then formed into the article required. By utilising the fibre reinforcement to carry the image or design, it is possible to create articles with complex curved surfaces having an image as part of the structure and without using a foreign layer to carry the image.

  • Patent number: 6227112
Abstract: An apparatus for performing successively performable actuations in a printing press includes a pressure converter having an actuator formed with actuator surfaces which are successively able to be acted upon stepwise by pressure fluid; and a printing press in combination with the apparatus. Successively performed actuations in a printing press include switching or controlling, coupling, adjusting and tensioning operations, wherein machine or press parts are moved and/or held in a given position. Such actuations may be necessary in various devices of the printing press, a defined sequence of actuations having to be adhered to, depending upon the functions of the individual devices and to assure disruption-free cooperation of the devices. The actuations often require a transmission of comparatively strong forces to devices located at various places in the printing press which in terms of structural space are quite restricted. Pneumatic and hydraulic systems are therefore used for these purposes.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for fabricating a laminate product having a pair of sheet materials spaced by a plurality of flexible parallel vanes which are secured to the sheet material so that planar movement of the sheet materials in opposite directions cause the vanes to shift between open and closed positions. The vane material is formed from a web of material by dyeing the material, drying the dyed material, applying spaced longitudinally extending lines of adhesive on opposite faces of the material, and cutting the material into a plurality of side-by-side strips with each strip having a bead of adhesive on each face and along opposite side edges. The cut material with adhesive applied thereto is taken up on a transfer roll and moved to a vane/strip handling station where the strips of material are processed and delivered to a laminating station in parallel overlapping relationship with each other.
