Ribbon Inker Patents (Class 101/96)
  • Patent number: 10122251
Abstract: A sequential actuator for a radio frequency switch includes a rotor designed to be rotated in a designated rotational direction of the actuator and a stator defining with the rotor when the stator is energized an active torque curve of the rotor having asymmetric positive and negative torque curve portions. Magnetic elements are distributed between the rotor and the stator and define a detent torque curve of the rotor. In some examples, when the stator is energized, the rotor undergoes a first rotation from a position of partial angular overlap of a first rotor magnetic element with a first stator electromagnet to a position of angular alignment of the first rotor magnetic element with the first stator electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 5611273
Abstract: The check writer for imprinting checks is comprised of a frame having a printing line, a plurality of type segment members supported by the frame, with each segment member having a set of offset printing characters thereon on the segment member facing and being moveable to locate the desired printing characters on the printing line, and a prefix holder assembly supported by the frame and structurally arranged to receive and position a sliding prefix plate adjacent to the printing characters on the printing line. The width and length dimensions of each printing face on each type segment is substantially identical. Additionally, the check writer includes an inked ribbon and ribbon support member supporting the ribbon adjacent to the printing characters disposed on the printing line, a platen supported by the frame, and an actuating mechanism supported by the frame and movable from a normal non-printing position to an activated printing position for effecting the printing operation.

  • Patent number: 4995315
Abstract: An imprinting apparatus for imprinting checks, money orders and like negotiable instruments includes adjustable type segment members having type characters thereon for printing the dollar and cents amount of the money order in conventional arabic characters and in characters which are readable by an optical character recognition device, the apparatus including two platen assemblies operated by a common operating lever to simultaneously imprint the money order with both conventional arabic and optical character readable information, one of the platen assemblies being operable to effect impact movement of an associated platen in imprinting the form. The apparatus employs a replaceable inked ribbon cartridge including a ribbon bearing a dye-based ink which permeates the money order from front to back as a deterrent to alteration of a dollar amount imprinted thereon.

  • Patent number: 4343243
Abstract: A hand-operated printer is disclosed which is suitable for imprinting ZIP codes on letters. The printer includes a printing lever which supports a printing head. Where only the numerals 0-9 need be printed, the printing head includes a printing wheel having raised type numerals thereon and a reading wheel geared to the printing wheel for selecting the numeral to be printed. Where a variety of characters must be printed, for example, the letters of the alphabet, the printing head includes a printing tape having raised type characters thereon and a reading tape geared to the printing tape for selecting the character to be printed. A clamping member is pivotally connected to one end of the printing lever and includes an aperture located opposite the printing head. The clamping member supports an inked ribbon which extends over the aperture.

  • Patent number: 4214521
Abstract: A rolling parallel printer in which a pressure element is driven through a swiveling motion each printing cycle and a pressure segment thereof rolls off a line of type. The pressure element is connected to a mechanical linkage which minimizes the sweep of travel of the pressure element, while maintaining the pressure element sufficiently far from the type in a rest position to facilitate reading of the printed matter.

  • Patent number: 4084503
Abstract: High speed, on-the-fly line printer apparatus including an inked ribbon advancing mechanism, a print sheet advancing mechanism, and drive structure coupled with both the advancing mechanisms to interruptedly advance them. Also, the inked ribbon advancing mechanism may be bodily shiftable between different positions associated with different color printing modes, the drive structure accommodating such shifting. Furthermore, a drum having multiple columns of type font segments is provided.
