  • Patent number: 9958245
Abstract: A liquid disruptor device and a method of manufacturing the same are introduced. The liquid disruptor device comprises a front casing, a liquid seal film, a rear casing, a plane wave generator and a counter-impact cover. The plane wave generator generates a plane blast wave which compresses a liquid contained in the front casing and a liner to not only focus blast energy of the liquid but also allow the liquid to form a liquid knife current for destroying explosives. Hence, the liquid disruptor device displays higher efficiency per unit weight of explosives when detonation thereof occurs at multiple points. Further, a liquid disruptor device module inclusive of at least two liquid disruptor devices combined to assume a geometric shape is introduced.

  • Patent number: 6167811
Abstract: A shaped charge explosive device for defeat of advanced armor is presented. In operation, a conically capped hemispherical liner is collapsed in reverse sequence. Detonation of the base of the hemisphere, done earlier in sequence, produces a thick massive jet for initial penetration as a deep crater, in the armor. The conical liner is collapsed afterward, producing a thin jet which reaches the armor deep into the crater earlier produced, at an increased distance than would be usual without a crater. The increased standoff is a further contribution in destructive improvement since adding travel distance to the target for a destructive jet, up to a point, will increase destruction of the target. Various detonation mechanisms, inhibitors, and judicious use of various high explosives and detonation arrangements, all provide the tools for formation of a desired particular two-jet sequence, to accomplish a desired destructive potential.

The uniqueness of the present invention is the addition of an outer layer of explosive containing an outer confinement case. Also utilized in the device are a booster, and a detonator, held by a centering device, to initiate the device according to standard practice. The device acts to use the outer explosive as a tamping material surrounding the inner confining case material. • Patent number: 5253585
Abstract: A main charge of explosive is positioned symmetrically about a passageway-forming tubular member, such as a well pipe assembly. The charge is outwardly and radially spaced from the member and is coupled thereto by a dense medium, such as soil, which is adapted to transfer the produced explosive energy to the tubular member in the form of a pressure pulse applied by the medium. Initiation charges are supplied at the outer surface of the main charge, to initiate a detonation wave directed at the tubular member. A layer of dense medium is provided to confine the non-coupled surface of the charge and retard venting of explosive gases away from the tubular member. In the end result, concentrated, converging pressure pulses are applied to the tubular member on detonation, to cause it to be symmetrically crimped to restrict the passageway.

  • Patent number: 5243914
Abstract: This invention deals with case-less ammunition, the propelling element of which has increased solidity. This increase in solidity is achieved by virtue of the fact that the propelling charge is firmly enveloped in a fabric. The fabric may consist of completely synthetic organic fibers or of mineral bibers. The ammunition in accordance with the invention manifests increased stability during loading and transportation in the weapon and better internal ballistics data than comparable ammunition known to date on the basis of the higher tamping attained.

  • Patent number: 5237929
Abstract: The present invention relates to a projectile-forming explosive charge (1) of the type which includes a forward concave insert (2) disposed in the envisaged effect direction of the charge and being reformed on detonation of the charge into a cohesive projectile (4). According to the invention, this projectile (4) is given advantageous ballistic configuration with the aid of a specifically designed annular portion (3) which is also utilized for retaining the insert (2) in that sleeve (8) which surrounds the explosive charge (9) on the other sides.

  • Patent number: 5175391
Abstract: A shaped charge device having a cylindrical housing, an explosive charge with a cavity at one end, a fuze, booster, a multimaterial vertically layered liner having a hemispherical, semi-hemispherical, arcuate or conical shape with a number of segments of materials, each segment in contact with the explosive charge and the cavity, each segment oriented normal, parallel or oblique to the charge axis. The detonating of the explosive charge causes the liner to form a jet of a plurality of the segments. A method of manufacture is also disclosed wherein the liners made in the vertical manner avoid mixing or interaction between dissimilar materials undergoing the jetting action. Vertically layered liners provide excellent material flow and liner collapse diagnostics.

  • Patent number: 5090324
Abstract: A warhead (10') which includes a shaped or projectile forming charge in the form of a liner (14) of a multi-phase metallic material or a metal-metal laminate. To prevent the liner (14) from being destroyed by the incoming shock wave and make impossible the formation of a projectile, that is, a shaped charge jet, a layer (15) is arranged, in front of the liner (14) on the side of the explosive, with the layer (15) causing the shock wave front to be flattened and damped and having an acoustic impedance which is lower than that of the liner (14).

  • Patent number: 5010823
Abstract: This invention relates to an elongated flexible housing containing coexteve explosive and propellant charges. The housing is adapted to be attached to a structure to be severed and the parts separated. The explosive charge is a shaped-charged for first severing the structure into two parts. The propellant charge separates the severed parts one from another.
