Abstract: An assembly for use in a downhole tool. The assembly may include a body that includes a chamber with a solder suspension contained therein, the solder suspension comprising solder particles, each solder particle comprising an outer shell and a liquid metal core that is exposed and solidifies upon rupture of the outer shell. The assembly may also include a port that allows fluid flow between the chamber and an area outside of the chamber. The assembly may further include a plunger actuatable to apply a force to create a pressure to the solder suspension within the chamber to eject the solder suspension from the port at a velocity to rupture the outer shells of the particles upon contact with a surface.
Abstract: A high pressure fluid system including enhanced safety, maintenance and servicing features. The system can include a CAM assembly module, having a valve seat assembly, seal cartridge assembly and inlet manifold, that is easily installed in and removed from a frame and/discharge manifold as a single unit. A discharge manifold can isolate different pressure rated passageways of the system, and multiple rupture discs associated with the same. A discharge manifold end plate can be included to provide ease of repair of discharge outlets and to establish a plumbing system for the rupture discs. A quick coupler can facilitate connection between a plunger of the seal cartridge assembly and a cross head stub connected to a power frame. A lubrication valve assembly can provide and meter lubrication from a high pressure inlet source to a plunger and packing of the seal cartridge assembly.
Abstract: Method, source and shuttle configured to generate acoustic waves under water. The shuttle includes a firing piston closing a firing chamber and contributing to holding the compressed gas, and a transitional region connected to the firing piston. The firing chamber and the transitional region define a most restrictive area through which the compressed gas is released toward the at least one exhaust port, the most restrictive area is substantially smooth while the movable shuttle moves toward the open position, and a profile of the transitional region is selected to reduce a high-frequency content of the acoustic waves.
Abstract: A flare comprising an oxygen reservoir section, a fuel reservoir section and a nozzle section; the oxygen reservoir section having a reservoir capable of containing oxygen at high pressure, and a valve operable by an actuator to selectively permit transmission of pressurized oxygen from the reservoir; the fuel reservoir section including a collapsible fuel bag having a fuel orifice at one end and a plug normally positioned over the orifice; and the nozzle section having a oxygen flow deflector, a fuel atomizing region and an ignition region.

Abstract: An inlet chamber receives fluid from a small high pressure pump, such fluid flowing through a flow restrictor and one-way valve into an accumulator, until very high pressure is established in the accumulator. At the same time, a sealed poppet is pushed against a poppet seat by the high pressure within the inlet chamber to prevent fluid flow into an output chamber coupled to a bore hole. When the high pressure fluid in the accumulator is to be discharged into the output chamber, the inlet chamber is vented to the atmosphere to rapidly separate the poppet from the poppet seat. The poppet has an end portion having an area greater than the sealing area occupied by the poppet seat which permits the fluid under high pressure within the accumulator to rapidly separate the poppet from the valve seat so that a very large fraction of the energy in the accumulator is discharged through the outlet portion of the apparatus, to be injected into a bore hole for the purpose of fragmenting rock or the like.

Abstract: A smoke generating device is disclosed which utilizes a rechargable cartridge containing a vaporizable, smoke producing solution. The cartridge includes an aperture which is filled by a one-way, flap-type seal. When mounting the cartridge to the smoke generating device, a feed tube is inserted through the flap-type seal into the cartridge. In this manner, the contents of the cartridge are supplied to a valve means within the smoke generating device. When the valve means is actuated, the smoke producing fluid flows through a vaporizer coil. Heat supplied by a gas burner or other heating device vaporizes the smoke producing solution which issues as a dense simulated smoke from a smoke discharge nozzle. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a flow restricting means is provided in the vaporizer coil to maintain the rate of flow of smoke producing liquid within a predetermined range.
Abstract: Providing a fluid pressure pulse generator having a fluid inlet chamber communicating with an accumulator via a movable ball positioned within the inlet chamber, a narrow fluid passageway bypassing the ball, an outlet chamber coupled to a valve seat for preventing communication between the outlet chamber and the accumulator when the movable ball assumes a first position against the valve seat and for permitting the outlet chamber to communicate with the accumulator when the ball is separated from the valve seat in a second position, introducing fluid within the fluid inlet chamber causing the ball to assume the first position and for causing the fluid to flow through the passageway into the accumulator until fluid pressure is very high; and thereafter rapidly reducing fluid pressure within the inlet chamber to cause the ball to assume the second position for in turn causing high impulse ejection of fluid from the accumulator into the outlet chamber.
