Wheel, Rotor, Or Whirler Patents (Class 102/359)
  • Patent number: 5996502
Abstract: An aerodynamically stable, kinematic flare having an enhanced plume signature is disclosed. The flare includes a housing with a flare illuminant disposed within the housing. A primary nozzle is configured in the aft wall of the housing. Four secondary nozzles are configured in the aft end of the side wall of the housing and are positioned aft of the center of gravity of the flare. At least two of the secondary nozzles comprise off-center nozzles having a longitudinal axis which does not extend through the longitudinal axis of the flare. A shroud is attached to the housing and deploys to an extended position upon combustion of the illuminant. The shroud is configured with holes which correspond in size and position to each of the secondary nozzles when the shroud is in its extended position. The primary and secondary nozzles are sized and positioned to spin stabilize the flare during combustion of the illuminant.

  • Patent number: 4926751
Abstract: An arrangement for drawing a braking parachute out of a front article of submunition of a submunition pair, including a withdrawing or pull line extending between the front and rear articles of submunition. Upon the articles of submunition distancing themselves from each other, there is opened a slip knot of the pull line, through which the latter is connected with the rear article of submunition.

  • Patent number: 4877487
Abstract: A belt on drum-type press which provides for utilization of a maximum amount of the drum circumference and provides a wide latitude of choice in the relationship between belt tension and press roll nip forces on the drum. In the preferred embodiments the press has a central drum free of axial bending moments and stresses.

  • Patent number: 4446793
Abstract: A spin stabilized disk for deploying chaff (radar countermeasure dipoles) or other expendable materials or substances from a moving aircraft. The disk, containing the expendable material is ejected from the aircraft at an angle in azimuth off of the aircraft line-of-flight and dispenses the expendable material in a more or less uniform fashion for a brief period of time as it travels away from the aircraft.
