    Abstract: A cable handling system for a longwall mining machine is disclosed. The longwall mining machine includes a shearer configured to move along a pan line to mine material along a mine face. The cable handling system includes a service line configured to carry one or more supply lines to the shearer for facilitating shearer operation. Further, a plurality of interconnected trays accommodates the service line. Moreover, a controller is configured to determine a profile of the pan line; detect one or more parameters associated with the service line in relation to the profile of the pan line; and determine a likelihood of at least a portion of the service line dislodging from the plurality of interconnected trays based on the one or more parameters exceeding a predefined threshold.

    Abstract: A vehicle conveyor for conveying a wheeled vehicle along a track using a roller may include a track with an opening for passage of a roller from a surface to an underside of the track. The conveyor may also include a door that is pivotable, about a pivot that is below track level, between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the door may cover the opening. In the open position, the door may uncover the opening. The conveyor may further include a gap in the track, adjacent to the opening, for accommodating the door when pivoted to the open position. A flexible cover may cover the gap and may be free to ride up and onto at least a portion of the door that extends above a surface of the track as the door pivots from the closed position to the open position.

The system includes U-shaped channel members embedded end-to-end in the ground provided with pulleys therein for guiding a closed cable therealong in a predetermined path, and a cart having a truck, a grip extending from the truck clampable to the cable so that the cart is pulled by the cable when the cable is moved along the path, a main wheel rotatably mounted to the truck centrally thereof for supporting the cart on the channel members, and a guide device mounted to the truck and extendable into the channel members for engaging the interior surface of the channel members to prevent the cart from falling over and preventing contact between the grip and the pulleys.

    Abstract: An electrical power supply and liquid supply arrangement for a mining machine, particularly a longwall mining machine, wherein extended lengths of a power supply cable and liquid supply conduit are disposed within a housing structure extending along one side of the course of travel of the mining machine. A side arm on the mining machine extends through a slot in a face plate of the housing structure and carries at its outer end a junction box within which power cables leading from the mining machine can be connected to or disconnected from an external power cable. Clamped to the aforesaid junction box is the liquid supply conduit which can be selectively coupled to, or uncoupled from, a mating supply conduit leading to the interior of the mining machine. The arrangement permits connection or disconnection of the power supply and water supply members to or from the mining machine without any disassembly of the machine itself.

    Abstract: A spill-plate housing protectively encloses a cable carriage including a pulley to form a reverse bend in a cable having one end connected to a mining machine while the cable extends along the internal duct in the housing. A tension reel includes a rope coupled to the cable carriage for advancing movement thereof within the spill-plate housing. The tension reel is supported at the end of the spill-plate housing opposite the end thereof from which the cable emerges. The cable includes an electrical power cable and hose which are separately carried by grooves in the pulley which may consist of two separate pulleys.

    Abstract: A spill-plate housing extends along one side of the course of travel by a mining machine. A flexible cutter cable and water conduit are carried from the mining machine by a carrier arm for extending into the spill-plate housing by projecting through a longitudinal slot formed in a faceplate of the housing. Upper and lower resilient apron strips are secured to the faceplate so that their longitudinal edges abut along the longitudinal center of the slot. Vertical support pipes are secured to the faceplate by upper and lower members to form an internal housing space adapted to accommodate the cable and conduit while coupled to the mining machine. Bias blocking arms are pivotally supported by the faceplate within the housing to prevent unintentional emergence of the cable from the slot in the housing. Pipe-engaging surfaces on clamp plates arranged at opposed sides of the vertical support pipes are used to carry a door for vertical movement to expose the interior of the housing space.
