Laterally Movable Jaws Patents (Class 104/214)
  • Patent number: 6024022
Abstract: A traction cable-type vehicle for a reserved lane conveyor is equipped with a disengageable clamp secured below the vehicle. A mobile jaw of the clamp is designed as an elbow lever mounted in a swiveling manner on a fixed pin, and is arranged above the cable housing between the fixed and mobile jaws of the clamp. The elbow lever cooperates with a toggle lever having a spring-loaded telescopic link and an actuator for extending and folding of the toggle lever to close and open the clamp. The fixed and movable jaws are removable.

  • Patent number: 5520116
Abstract: Vehicles of a passenger transport installation are hauled along a track by a traction cable. Each vehicle is equipped with a detachable grip having a pair of jaws for clamping the traction cable. A grip control mechanism comprises a toggle device with a spring, arranged so as to exert a cable clamping force when the toggle is in the straightened position, further to the dead center position. The toggle device provides a safe lock against accidental opening movement of the jaws.

  • Patent number: 4957047
Abstract: The revolving cable transport installation, for instance a gondola aerial cableway, has the carriages of the gondolas supported upon two adjacently extending support cables. Between both support cables there is arranged a continuously revolving traction cable. Along the travel path the carriages are coupled with the continuously revolving traction cable by actuatable cable clamps. These cable clamps are connected with the carriages so as to be elevationally movable and they engage the traction cable from below. The traction cable extends at the upper region of the carriages and can support itself within the suspension zones, i.e. between the support masts at the carriages. Thus, the weight of the traction cable does not load the cable clamps and these cable clamps can accommodate themselves to the position of the traction cable independent of the carriages.

  • Patent number: 4926754
Abstract: A cable way for transporting suspended vehicles or cars includes a moving pulling cable and a guide element defining a long travel axis and formed at least in part as a support cable. The cable way at certain locations is adjustable in height and to both sides along the long travel axis. At the certain locations, the support cable is replaced by rigid rails. Each vehicle is supported on the guide element by a roller mechanism including a grip secured to the pulling cable with the grip connected by an articulated rocker member to travel rollers contacting the guide element. The rocker mechanism includes two guiding or steering elements pivotally displaceable relative to the long travel axis for effecting the adjustment at the certain locations. The grip generally engages the pulling cable from below and permits travel over diversion rollers located on both sides of the pulling cable.

  • Patent number: 4760798
Abstract: A device for the automatic connection of a vehicle to the cable of a continuously moving cableway comprises a clamp which is constituted by two jaws, an inner one and an outer one, carried by the upper end of the vehicle suspension system, and which is arranged to close automatically to engage the cable under the action of resilient member and a cam located at each station for automatically and opening the clamp simultaneously loading the resilient member, so as to cause the temporary unhooking of the vehicle from the cable on its arrival at the station and the closure of the clamp on the departure of the vehicle from the station. The outer jaw is carried by an operating lever hinged at one end to a support member and having its other end subject directly to the action of the cam located at each station.

  • Patent number: 4092929
Abstract: Transport installation comprising individual passive vehicles each equipped with a triple grip for coupling the vehicle to a main haulage cable extending along the track or to auxiliary haulage cables for instance acceleration and deceleration cables in a station. One pair of jaws of the grip is open when the two other pairs of jaws are in the coupling position and inversely. A change of cable operation is effected by a single control and the gauge of the grip is maintained small to permit its passing between the guide sheaves of the cables.
