    Abstract: A guide rail (14) for an elevator system (10) includes a base (20) connectable with a wall of a hoistway (12) of the elevator system (10) and a web section (24) connected to and extending from the base (20). A tip section (26) is located at an end of the web section (24) and is operably connectable to an elevator car (16) of the elevator system (10). The base (20), the web section (24) and the tip section (26) are formed of one or more thicknesses (28) of sheet metal material. An elevator system (10) includes an elevator car (16) located in a hoistway (12) and a guide rail (14) extending along the hoistway (12) and operably connected to the elevator car (16) for guiding the elevator car (16) along the hoistway (12). The guide rail (14) is configured such that braking forces applied to the guide rail (14) by a braking mechanism (36) successfully reduce the speed of the elevator car (16) without resulting in failure of the guide rail (14).

    Abstract: A track displaceable service vehicle replaces individual worn or damaged idlers with new idlers in the upper run and lower run of a belt conveyor with rising or falling conveying route, in which there is little space for the use of the service vehicle for replacing the idlers. The service vehicle accommodates a magazine for new and worn idlers and auxiliary devices for lifting the belt and removing old and for installing new idlers. A platform carries service personnel, and can be brought into a horizontal position in case of an inclined travel route of the service vehicle. The replacing of worn or defective idlers takes place in certain cycles in which the entire segment of the belt conveyor is removed and all worn and defective idlers are replaced. The service vehicle has a drive and is suitable for long tunnel sections (conveying routes which extend over several kilometers).

    Abstract: A movable crawler system that moves a crawler of railroad equipment from a first position to a second position is disclosed. The crawler system may be used in railroad equipment for rail change-out processes. When used in this manner, the crawler system enables the crawler to be moved between a position on a guard timber and a position on or above the railroad ties. Because the crawler can be moved to a position on the guard timber, when the equipment is operated on a track suspended by a bridge, which has one rail missing, the need for workers to work outside the rails to raise the equipment above the guard timber is eliminated.
