Patent number: 4941794Abstract: As automated loading/unloading system is shown, which uses a lift truck 10 for loading and unloading cargos and adpated to travel between a container 90 and a coneyor 50, a rotatably disposed turntable 60 for rotation about a vertical axis, the turntable being rotated when the lift truck 10 is on top thereof so as to turn the lift truck to face the container 90 or conveyor 50. A transport passage 80 installed between the turntable 60 and container 90 to permit the lift truck 10 to reach the container 90. An external power unit 100 is employed for controlling the lift truck and the turntable 60. Guide rails 70 and 81 are provided to extend along the turntable 60 and the transport passage 80 along one edge. The lift truck 10 is designed so as to urge its body to one side in its movement so that the movement of the lift truck is guided by the rails 70 and 81 and the inside wall of the container on the same side of the rails.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1989Date of Patent: July 17, 1990Assignees: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Nittsu Shoji Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshimasa Hara, Seisaku Ohkura, Fumio Iijima, Isamu Tamura, Tetsuro Fukai, Sumiho Tagiri, Norimasa Takagi

Patent number: 4796537Abstract: The invention provides a sturdy substantially rectangular scow-like turntable platform with retractable wheels for mobility and turntable mechanics for the use of heavy trucks. The turntable platform is towable and can be used with wheels down or with wheels retracted for bottom surface friction stabilization. A trailer is provided with powering devices and controls for operating the turntable motor and the various ram activated devices. The turntable motor and the rams can be powered by pressurized hydraulic fluid or by compressed air.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Inventor: Robert G. Besser

Patent number: 4776735Abstract: A railroad flat car having a rotatable loading floor for transferring loads between it and a platform. A sleeve is provided in the rotatable loading floor which slidably receives a beam coupled to the chassis. The beam is extended into the sleeve to secure the loading floor in its stowed position during travel. The beam abuts against a steel plate in the sleeve to provide a solid buffer against horizontal motion of the rotatable loading floor along its longitudinal axis, the beam and sleeve also stiffen the rail car to minimize sagging under heavy loads. The end of the loading floor has a pinion gear which meshes with a toothed rack on the chassis. A motor turns the pinion gear to swing the rotatable loading floor into position.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1987Date of Patent: October 11, 1988Inventors: Fedde Walda, Nanne M. Walda, Benne F. Patent number: 4597334Abstract: A turntable for driverless vehicles rides on a horizontally disposed circular rail and is pivotable about a vertical axis through an arc of 90.degree.. A vertical shaft is connected at its upper end to the table by way of a universal coupling. A motor is connected to the shaft to pivot the shaft. The turntable is particularly adapted for use at a T junction of a system having a closed loop.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1981Date of Patent: July 1, 1986Assignee: SI Handling Systems, Inc.Inventor: Charles E. Patent number: 4457656Abstract: Stack handling apparatus includes an input delivery section having two spaced apart conveyor segments operatively arranged to move equidistantly with respect to a centerline between the two conveyor segments. A stack formation section receives articles conveyed in a serial stream from the input delivery section and includes a carriage having a blade apparatus which is maintained at a generally constant predetermined angle as the carriage is transported in a closed loop transport movement path. Articles are assembled into batches on the blade apparatus, and each batch is transferred to door gate apparatus by relative linear movement. The door gate apparatus releases the batch for linear free fall movement to a turntable mechanism of a stack delivery section. The turntable mechanism alternately rotates 180.degree. after the receipt of each batch. Longitudinally extendable hydraulic assemblies are eccentrically connected to rotate the turntable mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1981Date of Patent: July 3, 1984Assignee: Nolan Systems, Inc.Inventors: Paul C. Kosina, George E. Koltko
