Antifriction Wheels Patents (Class 105/181)
  • Patent number: 10364107
Abstract: A railcar dumper system utilizes a trunnion wheel assembly to support a rotary rail car dumper having a rotary frame assembly supported by at least four trunnion wheel assemblies positioned along the ends of the rotary frame assembly. Each trunnion wheel assembly includes an equalizer bracket and a pair of trunnion wheel units selectively connected and disconnected from opposite ends of the equalizer bracket. Each trunnion wheel unit has a respective trunnion wheel bracket supporting a respective trunnion wheel that rotates within the trunnion wheel bracket. An equalizer support pivotally connects to the equalizer bracket between the opposite ends.

Abstract: A steering truck for steering a wheel axle of a truck has a solid lubricant application device at a position facing a flange of a wheel on the outer side of the wheel axle in the direction of travel in a truck frame. A solid lubricant is applied to freely make contact with and move away from the flange and a spring impels the solid lubricant towards the flange. A stopper restrains the solid lubricant from approaching the flange, By utilizing a forward and backward movement of the wheel axle in the travel direction caused by steering, the solid lubricant 3 makes contact only on the outer rail side toward which the wheel approaches when passing through a curved section. No contact occurs on the inner rail side from which the wheel moves away when passing through a curved section and when traveling through a straight section.

  • Patent number: 4550664
Abstract: A track wheel has an axially extended hollow hub with internally directed gear teeth capable of receiving an outer toothed driving shaft. The hub is supported by roller bearings in a bearing box from which the wheel may not be inadvertently removed once the box halves have been welded together. The sides of the bearing box have bores in appropriate locations which serve to allow the box to be fastened in a variety of configurations to the element to be transported by the track wheel. The side surfaces of the two halves of the bearing box are provided with recesses for flush and precise arrangement of the roller bearings such that the box can be flushly mounted to other elements. The roller bearings are secured within the recesses by means of snap rings which fit into annular slots located on the outer cylindrical surfaces of the hub.

  • Patent number: 4212247
Abstract: A vehicle is supended on a pair of slotted rails of tubular shape. The vehicle has a plurality of support members sloping downwardly from the sides of the car and having running gear thereon engaging within the rails through the slots. The vehicle is preferably of light weight materials and provided with some form of aerodynamic means to provide lift as the vehicle passes through the air along a right of way. The running gear includes rolling friction means designed to function in any event from low speed with maximum weight to negative gravity at high speeds.
