Patent number: 10029744Abstract: A vehicle cab suspension is provided with a body having a mounting member positioned at least partially within the body. One or more resilient members connect the body to the mounting member and are placed in a compressed condition between the body and the mounting member when the vehicle cab suspension is in an unloaded condition. The body may be formed of first and second body pieces, each of which may be provided with upper and/or lower projections to restrict movement of the resilient members during use.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: Hendrickson USA, L.L.C.Inventors: Michael J. Patent number: 8746151Abstract: A rail road freight car truck has a truck bolster and a pair of side frames, the truck bolster being mounted transversely relative to the side frames. The mounting interface between the ends of the axles and the sideframe pedestals allows lateral rocking motion of the sideframes in the manner of a swing motion truck. The lateral swinging motion is combined with a longitudinal self steering capability. The self steering capability may be obtained by use of a longitudinally oriented rocker that may tend to permit resistance to deflection that is proportional to the weight carried across the interface. The truck may have auxiliary centering elements mounted in the pedestal seats, and those auxiliary centering elements may be made of resilient elastomeric material. The truck may also have friction dampers that have a disinclination to stick-slip behavior. The friction dampers may be provided with brake linings, or similar features, on the face engaging the sideframe columns, on the slope face, or both.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2009Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: National Steel Car LimitedInventors: James W. Patent number: 7610862Abstract: A swing motion rail road freight car truck is provided that does not have lateral underslung cross bracing in the nature of a transom, a frame brace, or lateral rods. The truck has a truck bolster and a pair of sideframes, the truck bolster being mounted transversely relative to the sideframes. The sideframes have spring seats for the groups of springs. The springs seats may be on rockers, or may be rigidly mounted in the sideframes. Friction dampers are provided in inboard and outboard pairs. The biasing force on the dampers urges then to that act between the bolster ands and sideframes to resist parallelogram deflection of the truck.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2007Date of Patent: November 3, 2009Assignee: National Steel Car LimitedInventor: James W. Patent number: 7469641Abstract: A bolster for use with a rail truck assembly comprising a spring receptacle having a plurality of spring pockets on the bottom of each bolster. The bolster slidingly attached to a side frame at each end. A spring group comprising load springs and control springs, the load springs on each side frame to support and suspend the bolster end and control springs to control bolster end movement. The spring pocket adapted to retain the springs in a predetermined location and position relative to the bolster and side frame. The spring receptacle comprising spring guides intermediate the load springs and control springs to prevent tangling or interference between the springs. An angled surface on each spring guide, the angled surface forming a chamfer disposed to urge the spring into the spring pocket during installation and use.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2006Date of Patent: December 30, 2008Assignee: ASF-Keystone, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Berg, Nathan Reese

Patent number: 6338300Abstract: A bogie designed to be secured so that it rests on wheels and including at least two wheel axles, at least one side member extending from the axles to an at least approximately central part of the length of the bogie, and axle boxes in which the axles are mounted so that they can rotae. The side member includes at least one interchangeable elastic leaf constituting parametrizable primary suspension, made of composite material based on fibers embedded in a resin, and a region of each end of the side member is housed in a side-member sleeve resting on a respective axle box via at least one insert element.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1999Date of Patent: January 15, 2002Assignee: Alstom France SAInventor: Alain Landrot
