    Abstract: The invention provides a door system for a transit vehicle. It has an actuator which provides a rotary motion about an axis of the actuator for moving the door panel between an open position uncovering the aperture and a closed unlocked position covering the aperture. The rotary motion followed by the axial motion is provided by a cylinder having a piston moved by fluid pressure. The piston includes a guide track in its exterior which engages rollers in the cylinder. The guide track has one portion curving around the piston and one portion parallel to the axis. The curving part provides the rotary motion and the straight part provides the axial motion. When the rotary motion is completed the piston encounters a stop on a shaft which supports the door. The actuator then moves the door axially to engage locks.

The entrance gate is opened by the central control unit as a function of the output signal of the signal transducer and of the measuring instrument, and further on condition that at least one passenger is present at the gate.

    Abstract: A folding door apparatus for a railway platform has a plurality of continuously provided folding doors each composed of two elements, a mid-portion between the two elements serving as an inflection point, the plurality of folding doors being movable between closed positions in which the folding doors are disposed in a line along a railway platform and inflected positions in which openings in the folding door apparatus are formed; a door opening and closing driving apparatus including a pair of opening and closing acting bodies for moving the folding doors in a direction and amount necessary to form the openings in the folding door apparatus; and a logic unit for analyzing information regarding the positions and widths of entrances of a railway vehicle stopped at the platform, and controlling the direction and amount of movement of the folding doors such that the openings in the folding door apparatus correspond to the entrances of the railway vehicle.

Advantageously, two drive motors can be provided that are disposed diagonally across from one another relative to the point of rotation of the bogie, with the drive shafts of the motors being parallel to the wheel sets, and torque being transferred via further drive shafts.

The pivot arms cause the doors to translate along and pivot conjointly with guide rails hinged at their common center. The door leaves can therefore be flush with the sidewall of the cabin in the closed position and require a minimum of space in opening.

A vertically extending keel is carried by at least some of the vehicles for engaging power driven wheels that are positioned along the trackway.
