Abstract: The walls in the Unity Platform System are installed all along the platform to match the position of the train doors; on the other hand for different model trains, two new systems which are installed completely free from the train doors have been proposed in the file. The doors with roller bearings move on the seating sledge in the walls. All the doors are attached to one close circle rope, which moves over a pulley set. One drive group activates this rope. The drive group consists of one variable speed reversible motor; one brake and one drive sheave. The rope is pulled to the right or left by the drive sheave. All the doors open or close at the same time, being attached to the same rope. Besides, to bridge the gap between the platform edge and the train, three different Gap Devices have been proposed in the file.

Abstract: The invention provides a door system for a transit vehicle. It has an actuator which provides a rotary motion about an axis of the actuator for moving the door panel between an open position uncovering the aperture and a closed unlocked position covering the aperture. The actuator also provides a linear motion along the axis of the actuator for moving the door panel between the closed unlocked position and a closed locked position. The rotary motion followed by the axial motion is provided by a cylinder having a piston moved by fluid pressure. The piston includes a guide track in its exterior which engages rollers in the cylinder. The guide track has one portion curving around the piston and one portion parallel to the axis. The curving part provides the rotary motion and the straight part provides the axial motion. When the rotary motion is completed the piston encounters a stop on a shaft which supports the door. The actuator then moves the door axially to engage locks.

A programmable logic controller generates a sequence initiating (opening or closing) signal for a door panel; or, a manual input signal can be introduced for such purpose. The controller receives signals from a panel position sensor and a panel movement sensor to evaluate door panel status and generate status indication and panel movement signals. Automated control of door panel movement is selectively directed to a doorway, or doorways, at which an opening or closing problem is being encountered; that is, the exclusion of door panel movement signals to properly operated door panels.

Abstract: A chair assembly (20) for chairlift including a seat (22) and enclosure member (43) mounted to the seat (22) for movement between open and closed positions. The chair assembly (20) has a drive (51) for moving the enclosure (43) which includes a rail (52) mounted to the movable enclosure member (43) and drive rollers (56, 57) carried by the frame (26) of the seat assembly (21). The drive rollers (56, 57) are powered by motion of the chair assembly (20) through actuator rollers (82, 83) that engage stationary actuator rails (84, 85) at the chair terminals. The actuator rollers (82, 83) are coupled by flexible drive cables (87, 88) to the drive rollers (56, 57) so that movement of the chair along the actuator rails (84, 85) produces rotation of the actuator rollers (82, 83) and the drive rollers (56, 57), which displaces the rail (52) and movable enclosure member (43).

  • Patent number: 5176082
Abstract: A passenger detection loading and unloading control system is provided for high volume passenger transporters such as subway trains and the like which electronically counts the passengers in each passenger compartment and prepositions passengers that intend to deboard at the next passenger loading and unloading platform and which electronically counts and prepositions a number of passengers at the next platform for boarding. The system further permits simultaneous loading and unloading of passengers without interference with passenger flow. Passengers on the transporter are numerically counted and those passengers intended to deboard the transporter at the next platform are also counted. Signals representing these counted passengers are continuously transmitted to a signal processing facility for processing. A predetermined time schedule for arrival and departure is established for the high volume passenger transporter in relation to each passenger loading and unloading platform.

Abstract: A door opening system particularly suited for doors on mass transit vehicles. Through position sensing, electronic circuitry, mechanical linkage, brushless motor and pwm amplifier; opens and closes one or more doors, inhibits vehicle from running when door is open, allows vehicle to run when door is closed and not pushed back, stops moving vehicle when door opens beyond the push back position. This system does not depend on the mechanical linkage that opens and closes the door to sense the position of the door.

Abstract: A truck having a pair of wheels mounted by individual stub axles to longitudinal members of a frame. Lateral members of the frame received the forces from the wheels via the longitudinal members and forces from the car via air springs mouted to the lateral members adjacent the longitudinal members. The stub axles are easily removed from U-shaped retainers. A sleeve through the hollow axle retains the bearings to the axle. Half shafts interconnects/a gear box and the stub axles for driven trucks and the interconnect are dimensioned to allow the shafts to be removed axially through the hollow axle.

  • Patent number: 4867072
Abstract: A multi-unit rail vehicle for commuter traffic. To keep the entry and exit of the vehicle only slightly higher than the level of the street, and to make it possible to travel through the entire vehicle without steps, a continuous, level central walkway is provided that is at the same height as the entryway. To accommodate the driving bogie, the wheel sets are driven via drive shafts and reduction gear mechanisms. The drive motors can be disposed to the side below the car body and beyond the pivot range of the bogie. If room permits, vertical motors can also be provided in one corner of the car body, with such a vertical motor also driving the wheel sets via drive shafts and reduction gear mechanisms. Advantageously, two drive motors can be provided that are disposed diagonally across from one another relative to the point of rotation of the bogie, with the drive shafts of the motors being parallel to the wheel sets, and torque being transferred via further drive shafts.

  • Patent number: 4765250
Abstract: An arrangement for locomotives and other railway vehicles having steerable or self-steering railway trucks, particularly motorized locomotive trucks, which incorporates axle height transfer of loads from the axles to the frame through connecting rods and steering beams connecting with the end axles. The steering beams are interconnected through upstanding torque tubes, cranks and a high level diagonal link extending over intermediate traction motors or other equipment. A bolsterless suspension of rubber pads supports the carbody with traction and braking loads being transferred through linkage including a carbody post carrying a short pivotally mounted carbody beam attached by connecting rods to an adjacent transom of the truck frame. The arrangement provides a compact and efficient force transfer system with low axle weight transfer while permitting interrelated self-steering action of the front and rear axles, but is also adaptable to forced steering truck arrangements.

  • Patent number: 4655144
Abstract: A passenger cabin for an aerial cable railway or the like is constructed from outwardly convex panels connected at their adjoining edges by hollow profile sections. One sidewall of the cabin is equipped with a door. Sensing members of the cabin engage control members of the cable railway stations and transmit a control motion to a door actuation mechanism within the floor construction of the cabin. A crank operates a rocker arm which drives two connecting rods. Racks arranged on the connecting rods drive sector gears mounted on the cabin and cause pivot arms connected with each leaf of the door to pivot. The pivot arms cause the doors to translate along and pivot conjointly with guide rails hinged at their common center. The door leaves can therefore be flush with the sidewall of the cabin in the closed position and require a minimum of space in opening.
