Saddles Patents (Class 105/44)
  • Patent number: 6021718
Abstract: A two-axle undercarriage for track-bound transport systems carrying freight and passenger traffic, especially for inseparable train units, is divided into two parts, each part housing a wheel set. The two undercarriage frame halves are connected to each other in an adjustably articulated fashion on the plane of travel and are axially movable relative to each other to a limited extent in the direction of travel. To provide a tensilely-strong connection of two adjacent car bodies of the track-bound transport system, a connecting rod is used that permits adjustment of the undercarriage frame halves. The connecting rod is arranged between the adjacent car bodies so that cardanic movement is permitted between each of the two adjacent car bodies so that cardanic movement is permitted between each of the two adjacent car bodies and the connecting rod.

  • Patent number: 5890433
Abstract: A retractable intermodal vehicle (10) for supporting and connecting modified semitrailers (11) end-to-end to form a train of trailers capable of being operated on a railroad track (172); the semitrailers also able to be operated on a highway as regular semitrailers. In the preferred embodiment, the intermodal vehicle (10) is comprised of two lower frames (12), with a wheel/axle assembly (18) mounted to each, and each pivoted from and supporting a single upper frame assembly (14), the pivoting of these lower frames providing a limited steering of the rail axles relative to the upper frame. Inflatable air springs (22) are mounted between the lower frames (12) and upper frames (14) to allow each upper frame to be raised and lowered.

  • Patent number: 5469792
Abstract: Railborne vehicle comprising a gantry bogey, provided between mutually opposite ends of two successive carriages. A bottom plate 1, 2 projects from each of both carriage body ends to form a passage between the carriages. The two bottom plates 1, 2 are interconnected by a joint, preferably a spherical joint 3. In order to transmit the forces resulting from lateral torsional deformations of the carriage superstructure when negotiating curves and arising from uneven tracks, the bottom plates 1, 2 are interconnected by connecting beams 11 which are flexible and torsionally deformable and are connected at their ends by resilient connections to the bottom plates 1, 2.

  • Patent number: 4986190
Abstract: A vehicle, preferably a track vehicle, having a body and wheels arranged in pairs at the sides of the body. The wheels of each pair are supported by a gantry-like frame having support elements extending upwardly from the wheels and a cross member located in the roof region of the body. This arrangement allows the vehicle floor between the wheels to be made quite low and allows the height of the floor to remain the same throughout the entire vehicle length. The wheels can be driven from a motor located in the roof region and are preferably steerable to some extent to allow necessary adjustment as the vehicle negotiates bends.

  • Patent number: 4947761
Abstract: A truck having a pair of wheels mounted by individual stub axles to longitudinal members of a frame. Lateral members of the frame received the forces from the wheels via the longitudinal members and forces from the car via air springs mouted to the lateral members adjacent the longitudinal members. The stub axles are easily removed from U-shaped retainers. A sleeve through the hollow axle retains the bearings to the axle. Half shafts interconnects/a gear box and the stub axles for driven trucks and the interconnect are dimensioned to allow the shafts to be removed axially through the hollow axle.
