  • Publication number: 20150079381
Abstract: Anti-fog compositions comprising a primary film having opposing major planar surfaces and a central coplanar region, and processes for making such anti-fog compositions. The central coplanar region is disposed between the opposing major planar surfaces. The primary film comprises cellulose acetate, plasticizer, and an anti-blocking agent. The anti-blocking agent has an average particle size ranging from 0.02 microns to 6 microns. The cellulose acetate has a degree of substitution that increases from the opposing major planar surfaces toward the central coplanar region or that is substantially constant throughout the thickness of the composition. The composition is formed by saponifying a precursor film to improve hydrophilicity.

  • Publication number: 20140150691
Abstract: The invention provides a way of using cellulose triacetate (CTA) made from softwood pulp to make films suitable for use in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). It has been surprisingly found that a combination of certain additives in the film casting dope and of metal and sulfur content of the CTA allow a softwood CTA to exhibit peeling characteristics from the casting substrate that are similar to those of lint-based CTA of similar sulfur content. The additives include a combination of acid scavengers and chelating agents.

  • Publication number: 20120183787
Abstract: A method of promoting the adhesion between a coating based on at least one polymer and a substrate surface that can be made of different materials in which an adhesion promoter comprising at least one, optionally oligomeric, addition product having no terminal C?C double bonds and has hydrolyzable silane groups and other functional groups is included in the coating composition, included in a preliminary coating applied to the substrate surface prior to the actual coating, is applied between the coating and substrate surface, or any combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 6767937
Abstract: Polymer film, coating, and molded article elements for use in a display device are described which comprise a polymer phase having molecularly dispersed therein an acid scavenger compound, a hindered amine light stabilizer compound and a hindered phenol antioxidant compound, wherein the hindered amine light stabilizer compound and the hindered phenol antioxidant compound are present at a weight ratio of from 20:1 to 1:20, and the weight ratio of the acid scavenger compound to the total concentration of hindered amine light stabilizer compound and hindered phenol antioxidant compound is from 10:1 to 1:10. Use of a combination of an acid scavenger and a combination of two radical scavenger antioxidants dispersed in a polymer phase in accordance with the invention enables enhanced stabilization of the polymer when exposed to high heat and/or humidity condition, which has been found to be especially desirable when applied to polymer layers laminated into displays (e.g., polarizers in liquid crystal displays).
