Abstract: Containers for the storage and/or transport of potable water having surfaces derived from a range of polymers are provided. The container's surfaces may include a component/carrier combination (typically a heat labile component) which affords thermal stability to the surface containing the component. The component/carrier combination enables a heat labile component to survive exposure to elevated temperatures greater than its decomposition or volatilization temperature during processing or during the container's service. Additionally, the use of a component/carrier combination allows a plurality of otherwise incompatible components to be included within a single formulation. The different components included in the surface are able to impart a range of properties to the container's surface.
Abstract: There is provided a cellulose acylate film, containing a hindered amin-based compound, wherein the hindered amine-based compound is contained in an amount of 0.001% by mass to 5% by mass based on cellulose acylate, a minimum value of Knoop hardness is 170 N/mm2 to 220 N/mm2, and the Knoop hardness is measured several times by a Knoop indenter, the Knoop indenter is rotated by a given angle in each measurement, and a rotation axis of the Knoop indenter is orthogonal to an upper surface of the cellulose acylate film.
Abstract: Disclosed is a cellulose ester optical film containing cellulose ester, a polymer (a) below and a compound (b) below: (a) a polymer obtained by copolymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having in the molecule a partial structure represented by formula (1) below with at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and (b) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by formula (2) below and a compound represented by formula (3) below,
Abstract: An objective is to provide a cellulose ester film which can reduce a manufacturing burden and a facility burden caused by drying and recovering of a solvent used in the production process, a manufacturing method of the cellulose ester film and an optical film, and to specifically provide a polarizing plate employing the optical film as an excellent polarizing plate protective film exhibiting reduced fluctuation of retardation property in the width direction and a liquid crystal display employing the polarizing plate. Also disclosed is a cellulose ester film containing at least one compound having a phenol structure and a phosphite ester structure in a molecule.
Abstract: Aqueous dispersions of carboxylated cellulose esters are disclosed having a low organic solvent content. These dispersions can be prepared using a volatile hydrophilic organic solvent and a coupling organic solvent having a lower volatility, the volatile hydrophilic solvent being substantially stripped off during preparation to obtain a dispersion useful in a variety of coating compositions, providing satisfactory performance in metallic flake control, flow and leveling properties, and defect reduction.

Abstract: The present invention relates to pigment preparations comprising polyamide particles with an average particle size of below 50 &mgr;m and a pigment of an average particle size below 0.2 &mgr;m. The inventive pigment preparations are useful for coloring high molecular weight material, like coatings, inks and in particular plastics like polyvinyl chloride, polyamide, polyester, polycarbonate and, especially polyamide fibers.
Abstract: A molded article molded from a cellulose acetate composition comprising, contained in cellulose acetate, a composite material of a decomposition accelerating agent formed of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of oxygen acid of phosphorus, oxygen acid of sulfur, oxygen acid of nitrogen, a partial ester or hydrogen salt of these oxygen acids, carbonic acid and its hydrogen salt, a sulfonic acid and a carboxylic acid, with a reaction controlling agent formed of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a nitrogen-containing compound, a hydroxy compound, an oxygen-containing heterocyclic compound and a sulfur-containing heterocyclic compound.
Abstract: Polymer film, coating, and molded article elements for use in a display device are described which comprise a polymer phase having molecularly dispersed therein an acid scavenger compound, a hindered amine light stabilizer compound and a hindered phenol antioxidant compound, wherein the hindered amine light stabilizer compound and the hindered phenol antioxidant compound are present at a weight ratio of from 20:1 to 1:20, and the weight ratio of the acid scavenger compound to the total concentration of hindered amine light stabilizer compound and hindered phenol antioxidant compound is from 10:1 to 1:10. Use of a combination of an acid scavenger and a combination of two radical scavenger antioxidants dispersed in a polymer phase in accordance with the invention enables enhanced stabilization of the polymer when exposed to high heat and/or humidity condition, which has been found to be especially desirable when applied to polymer layers laminated into displays (e.g., polarizers in liquid crystal displays).
