Abstract: Regarding coating of fine particles or the like, provided are a coating composition containing methyl cellulose having small adhesiveness, resistance to generation of lumps, ability to form uniform coating, and ability to form a coating composition easily with water of normal temperature; a method for producing the coating composition; and a solid preparation. More specifically provided are a coating composition including methyl cellulose having such a viscosity that a viscosity at 20° C. of a 2% by weight aqueous solution of the methyl cellulose is 1 to 15 mPa·s and having such a dissolution start temperature that a dissolution start temperature of a 12% by weight aqueous liquid of the methyl cellulose is 10 to 25° C. and a solvent; a solid preparation obtained by coating of the coating composition; and the like.
Abstract: A plastically deformable sealing mass for the use in sealing a leak in a container in which oil, oil-containing or chemical liquid is stored, includes a solvent, and a hydrophobing agent which is received in the solvent. The solvent may be organic solvent, water, oil, or a silicon compound. The hydrophobing agent can be stearate, oleate, silane, siloxane, or silicon.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present description provide methods for increasing the concentration of carboxymethylcellulose alkali solutions that are particularly suitable for use in a high solids paper coating, barrier materials, etc. Generally described, the method includes dissolving carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and an alkali salt in water to obtain an alkali solution of CMC. The CMC desirably has a degree of substitution less than about 0.9. The alkali solution of CMC includes CMC in a concentration greater than about 9.8% by weight, has a pH from about 7.5 to about 11, and is characterized as having a viscosity of less than about 5,000 mPa.
Abstract: A pre-blend composition for preparation of joint compound including water, a cellulose ether thickener, and about 19% or less by weight of a salt selected from the group consisting of potassium carbonate, potassium sulfate, sodium acetate, and mixtures thereof, wherein the composition is essentially free of alumina, is disclosed.

Abstract: An aqueous fluidized polymer suspension is comprised of at least 20% by total weight of the suspension of at least one member selected from methylcellulose, methylhydroxypropylcellulose and methylhydroxyethylcellulose having a bulk density of 0.30 g/ml or greater dispersed in an aqueous solution of at least one salt dissolved therein. These suspensions have many industrial uses; for example, they can be used for joint compound manufacture, tile cement thickening, food additives, adhesives, and in many other water based systems.
