  • Publication number: 20120149800
Abstract: A multifunctional polymerizable ionic liquid is described comprising an anion and a cationic group having at least two ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups, each bonded to the cationic group via a divalent non-alkyl linking group. The multifunctional linking groups independently comprise a heteroatom such as oxygen or nitrogen. The linking groups may independently comprise one or more linkages such as an amide, urea, or ether linkage and more typically a urethane or ester linkage. The ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups are typically (meth)acrylate groups. Coatings and coated articles are also described.

  • Patent number: 7390430
Abstract: Difunctional oxazoline resins, which may be produced in a convenient one-step reaction from an arylalkylene dinitrile by reaction with an amino alcohol, are used in compositions with an additional curable compound or resin containing one or more carbon to carbon double bonds. The composition can be cured to a thermoset material, the curing mechanism occurring by the zwitterion polymerization of the bisoxazoline resin with the resin containing the one or more carbon to carbon double bonds. The reaction occurs without the need for curing initiators.

Abstract: A raw material solution for metal organic chemical vapor deposition having good film forming properties and excellent step coverage, and a composite oxide-based dielectric thin film produced by using the raw material, are provided. An improvement is made to the raw material solution for metal organic chemical vapor deposition having one or two or more organometallic compounds dissolved in an organic solvent, and the feature of the constitution lies in that the organic solvent is 1,3-dioxolane, or the organic solvent is a solvent mixture formed by mixing a first solvent consisting of 1,3-dioxolane, and a second solvent comprising one or two or more species selected from the group consisting of alcohols, alkanes, esters, aromatics, alkyl ethers and ketones, which is to be mixed with the 1,3-dioxolane.

Abstract: A reactive coating composition and method for treating a surface including heavy metals by applying the reactive coating composition to the surface. The surface can be, for example, a paint layer containing heavy metals. The reactive coating composition includes a stabilizing agent to stabilize the heavy metal and a permeability enhancing agent to increase the permeability of the paint layer, facilitating the reaction of the heavy metal with the stabilizing agent. The structure including the treated paint layer can be left in place or can be disposed in a non-hazardous landfill.

Abstract: High solubility of pristine single and multi-walled carbon nanotubes using electron donors as solubilizers has been observed. The resulting carbon nanotube solution can be readily diluted with other organic solvents, such as acetone, toluene and methanol. SEM after solvent evaporation clearly shows that nanotubes are still present after being subjected to this procedure. Electronic absorption of these solutions is observed in both the UV and visible region. Strong light emission (=0.30) was observed at 561 nm for dilute solutions of aniline-dissolved carbon nanotubes diluted with acetone.
