Abstract: Gel formation is prevented in the reaction between a sulfonyl-chloride-containing resin and a polyamine by first forming an adduct between the resin with an aminophenol. The prevention of gel formation enables sulfonyl-chloride containing resin to be used in admixture with acrylates and epoxy resin to form a polyamine-curable adhesive composition having excellent adhesive properties and chemical resistance.
Abstract: A stain-proofing agent comprising a compound represented by the formula (1):
and non-aqueous composition for paints comprising the stain-proofing agent, resin, curing agent and/or curing catalyst and being capable of forming a coating film remarkably excellent in stain-proofing property.
Abstract: Hydrophobic coating compositions are provided as are processes to coat articles with the compositions. Extremely hydrophobic coatings are provided by the compositions. Durable, weatherable and scratch-resistant coatings are provided by compositions comprising a trifluoromethyl-containing component and a hardenable material. Processes are also provided for forming hydrophobic coatings on articles without any substantial loss of fluorocarbon solvent used in the coating composition. Articles are coated on a surface thereof with a hydrophobic coating reactant or reaction product which forms a coating having an exposed surface populated with 30% by area or more terminal trifluoromethyl groups.
Abstract: A composition for reducing surface tension comprising from about 0.1% to about 0.5% by weight of a hydrocarbon surfactant and from 0.0001% to about 0.3% by weight of a fluorocarbon surfactant, provided that the hydrocarbon surfactant is present at less than or equal to 0.08% by weight when the fluorocarbon surfactant is present at greater than or equal to 0.

Abstract: A composition for electrophoretic deposition of a protective coating. The composition comprises a cationic resin emulsion; and a curative mixed with the cationic resin emulsion. The composition after electrophoretic deposition and curing provides the protective coating that has a concentration of extractable ionic contaminants less than about 200 nanograms/cm2; and a concentration of labile components less than about 36,000 nanograms/cm2.

Abstract: The object is to provide a water/oil repellent composition which can simultaneously perform a water/oil treatment and a polishing treatment to leather products such as leather shoes, etc., by using one water/oil repellent composition, and can also exert excellent water/oil repellent effect and excellent polishing effect. It is constituted so that microcapsules, in which a polishing agent is encapsulated, are dispersed in a water/oil repellent agent.
Abstract: A non-ozone depleting, non-flammable co-solvent composition useful as a carrier for actives such as accelerators, catalysts, initiators, activators and other primer materials for use as adhesive promoter compositions in combination with adhesive compositions. The co-solvent compositions include an azeotropic, non-flammable solution of a fluorinated compound and a substituted benzene compound.
Abstract: Use of fluorine containing polymers for the preparation of high dry formulations wherein the fluorine containing polymers are based on fluoropolyethers comprising a fluorine containing part RF and optionally an hydrogenated part RH, the bonds joining the fluorine containing part to the hydrogenated one being an ether —C—O—C—, bond the terminals T being such as to render the structure bi or polyfunctional, making thus possible the cross-linking reaction, the hydrogenated part RH not containing groups capable of linking by means of hydrogen bonds to basic acceptors.

Abstract: An improved method of deacidifying books, imaged paper and other imaged materials having a cellulose base wherein, for a sufficient time to raise the pH of the materials, the materials are treated with alkaline particles of a basic metal oxide, hydroxide or salt dispersed in a hydrofluorether carrier, alone, or in combination with a perfluorinated carrier. A surfactant is added.
