Carbohydrate Or Derivative Containing Patents (Class 106/31.36)
  • Patent number: 6290978
Abstract: Derivatized Arabinogalactan can be utilized in a variety of compositions to impart functionality without imparting negative rheological affects when the amount of the derivatized Arabinogalactan is increased in the composition. This is particularly important in the personal care industry, where it is desirable to have the flexibility to adjust the amount of derivatized Arabinogalactan depending upon the results it is desired to deliver to the user without negatively impacting the overall viscosity of the personal care composition.

  • Patent number: 6264729
Abstract: Provided is an ink composition comprising at least a colorant and water, wherein the ink composition further contains 0.5 to 15% by weight of reduced dextrin or reduced maltodextrin based on the total weight of the ink composition. It is a water based ink composition for a ball point pen which is excellent in dryout resistance and is safe and which does not cause a fluctuation in a viscosity and a pH with the passage of time.

  • Patent number: 6261351
Abstract: An action of the preventing drying at a pen tip without using water-soluble organic solvents such as glycols, glycerin and glycol ethers which have so far been used for a water based ink for a ball point pen is allotted to at least one selected from the group consisting of a reducing sugar comprising maltitol as a principal component, a reducing sugar comprising sorbitol as a principal component, reducing dextrin, reducing maltodextrin, &agr;-cyclodextrin, &bgr;-cyclodextrin and maltosylcyclodextrin, and the actions of inhibiting feathering of the drawn lines, improving discharge stability of the ink and maintaining the lubricity are allotted to at least one selected from the group consisting of an alkylene oxide adduct of polyglycerin, an alkylene oxide adduct of glycerin and an alkylene oxide adduct of trimethylolpropane.

  • Patent number: 6235095
Abstract: An improved ink suitable for ink jet printing comprising, a mixture of a colorant, an arylketoalkene stabilizing compound or a photoreactor, and a liquid vehicle, wherein the colorant is light-stable. When the photoreactor is combined with a wavelength-selective sensitizer to form a radiation transorber, the colorant is mutable upon exposure of the radiation transorber to specific, narrow bandwidth radiation. The colored composition may also contain a molecular includant having a chemical structure which defines at least one cavity wherein each of the colorant and photoreactor or radiation transorber is associated with the molecular includant. The invention also includes ink jet print cartridges containing the improved ink, ink jet printers containing the improved ink and methods of printing using the improved ink.
