Patent number: 11091661Abstract: A method for preparing a large-area structural chromogenic pattern by ink-jet printing, a structural chromogenic pattern obtained by the method, and an anti-counterfeiting method based on a structural color change. A dispersion liquid containing mono-disperse colloidal microspheres with high index of refraction is printed onto a piece of paper by using an ink-jet printer, and nano-microspheres are arranged and assembled on the paper to obtain a micro-structure having the features of being ordered from a short distance and disordered from a long distance. A pretty structural color can be observed by means of the interaction of the structure with light, thus displaying a pattern, changing the angle of observation, changing the brightness of the structural color, and hiding and displaying the pattern. The method is simple and convenient, is widely applicable, and can achieve the preparation and anti-counterfeiting of a large-area structural color without external stimulation.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2018Date of Patent: August 17, 2021Assignee: DALIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGYInventors: Suli Wu, Jie Chang, Baoqi Liu, Shufen Zhang

Patent number: 6663702Abstract: This invention concerns inks for use in ink-jet printers for printing on to impervious or non-porous substrates such as, for example, glass, ceramics, plastics such as, for example, polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride, cellulose acetate butyrate, and metals. The inks comprise a resin and two solvents having different evaporation rates. The inks dry quickly without the need for heat.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2002Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Assignee: Sericol LimitedInventor: Geoffery Paul Day

Patent number: 6652638Abstract: A marking composition for placing a temporarily visible mark on a surface. The composition includes a paint base and a pigmented colorant. The pigmented colorant is dispersed within the paint base, and has characteristics that cause the mark to progressively become substantially invisible upon exposure to UV light. Additives, such as UV absorbers and anti-oxidants may be included to alter the rate at which the mark becomes invisible. The pigmented colorant may be a dispersion of dyed melamine-toluenesulfonamide-formaldehyde polymer in a mixture of alkyl based resins and aliphatic hydrocarbons. The colorant may be about 2 to 30 parts by weight of the composition.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2001Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Assignee: Aervoe Pacific Company, Inc.Inventors: Neil S. Patent number: 6645280Abstract: The present invention provides a jet ink composition suitable for printing watermarks on paper substrates. The jet ink composition comprises a solvent and a translucentizing agent. An example of a translucentizing agent is sucrose acetate isobutyrate. The present invention further provides a method of ink jet printing watermark on an object comprising projecting a stream of droplets of the ink composition and controlling the direction of the stream so that the droplets form the watermark on the object. The method of the present invention has the advantage that it provides high speed watermarking capability. The method provides a further advantage that it is economical in changing the design of watermarks. The method is versatile and allows changes in the design of watermarks to be incorporated readily.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2000Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Assignee: Videojet Technologies Inc.Inventors: Linfang Zhu, Christopher D. Publication number: 20030096056Abstract: An ink for a display panel effective in reducing the uneven adhesion of the ink is applied by an ink application apparatus using an inkjet method to form a structural layer (e.g. reflective layer, phosphor layer) of a display panel such as a plasma display panel. The ink is delivered through a nozzle of the ink application apparatus and includes a powder material used in forming the structural layer, water or a water-miscible solvent, a binder formed from a water-soluble resin, and a plasticizer. The flexibility retained by the ink, even after the ink is applied, allows for leveling of the applied ink to occur and uneven adhesion to be reduced as a result.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2002Publication date: May 22, 2003Inventors: Hiroyuki Kawamura, Keisuke Sumida, Shigeo Suzuki

Patent number: 6551392Abstract: A pattern-transferring film having a print pattern provided on an upper surface thereof is floated on a liquid surface within a transferring bath and an objective body is immersed into a liquid within the transferring bath together with the pattern transferring film under a liquid pressure so as to transfer the print pattern onto the objective body. An ink set of at least blue, yellow and red inks is used for printing the pattern on the pattern-transferring film. Each of the printing inks comprises at least a resin ingredient and a pigment including color pigments. The color pigment for the blue ink is a phthalocyanine blue, the color pigment for the yellow ink is an isoindolinone yellow and the color pigment for the red ink is a quinacridone red. The ink set may include one or both of a white ink and a black ink. The color pigment for the white ink is a titanium white and the color pigment for the black ink is a carbon black.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1998Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Assignee: Cubic Co., Ltd.Inventors: Nobuyuki Otaki, Kazuhiro Yamamoto, Misao Sugiyama
