    Abstract: A composition includes: an ethoxylated fatty alcohol having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms and having an ethoxylation level of from 1 to 10 moles of ethylene oxide per mole of fatty alcohol, —an alkanolamine or a morpholine, or its derivatives or mix of them, and a fatty acid. A hydraulic binder includes the composition. A process prevents the formation of a surface film at the surface of hydraulic binders, wherein the composition is added to the dry hydraulic binder. A process for preparing the composition, includes: melting the ethoxylated fatty alcohol and heating it at a temperature above its melting point, adding water to the melted ethoxylated fatty alcohol and mixing, adding fatty acid to the mixture and mixing, adding alkanolamine or morpholine, or its derivative or mix of them to the mixture obtained and mixing, and adding water.

    Abstract: A method for the production of an additive for building materials, wherein a hidrophobization agent is mixed with a solvent and the resulting emulsion is applied to quicklime, and then the material obtained is hydrated by adding water, wherein the hidrophobization agent is an oil having a dry matter content of 3 to 50% by weight, the quicklime in a quantity of 60 to 96% by weight is soaked with a quantity of 4 to 40% by weight of the mixture of the oil and the solvent, and after dying of the hydrated material a foaming agent is admixed thereto in a quantity of 0.25 to 0.6 part by weight of the foaming agent, preferably sodium bicarbonate, to one part by weight of the hydrated material. By using this additive, a binder comprising an additive is produced so that a hydraulic binding component and/or an isocyanate based binding component are/is added to the additive in a quantity of 4.8 to 14.8 parts by weight of the binding component to one part by weight of the additive.

    Abstract: Liquefied biomass obtained from direct liquefaction and/or fast-pyrolysis is reacted with mixtures of fatty acids in the presence of an oxidizer and with various reactive monomer and polymer additives to create tailored compatibilizer-like bio-additives that are compatible with petroleum asphalts. By judicially selecting appropriate the additives and additional constituent, such as non-reactive and reactive diluents, these bio-additives can be tailored to modify low-temperature properties, high-temperature properties, compatibility with aggregate materials, application characteristics, and other properties of petroleum asphalts for paving, roofing and sealing uses.
