Patent number: 10315956Abstract: A limestone based masonry veneer composition is described that may be molded, blown, sprayed, troweled, or otherwise applied to interior and exterior surfaces. The composition provides an aesthetic resurfacing, cladding and/or overlay coating. The composition is capable of being pigmented, textured, sculpted—or otherwise formed into an aesthetic, realistic, architecture, suitable as a stone veneer, an example of which is Blown Stone®, by Stone Coat®. Texturing or sculpting may occur about 1 hour and up to about 12 hours after applying the composition. The final composition is hydrophobic and breathes. Air carbonation allows the formation of a predominantly very pure calcium carbonate or limestone when fully cured, which prevents mold and algae growth and allows for autogenous healing with an increase in unit weight over time, ensuring an overall high compressive strength that endures over time.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2015Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: StoneCoat of Texas, LLCInventors: Kenneth W. Morrison, Norman L. Hains

Publication number: 20130263759Abstract: Despite the excellent properties associated with Magnesium OxyChloride (Sorel) based cements and Magnesium OxySulfate based cements, water and corrosion resistance has been limiting factors for achieving greater commercial applications. Such issues can be addressed by incorporating various alkali metal phosphates, such as Magnesium mono- or dihydrogen phosphate (MgHPO4 or MgH2PO4) with alkali metal fatty acids; such as Magnesium Stearate; and metal or alkali metal sulfates such as Aluminum Sulfate or Magnesium Sulfate. Water resistance is further enhanced by either pre-carbonating the mix water or the liquid magnesium chloride phase of the cements, or by adding a carbonate into the powder phase. Accelerated cure of this system has also been obtained by using various inorganic metal oxides. Additionally, improved corrosion resistance is achieved through the use of certain phosphates, zeolites, nitrites and other novel additives.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2012Publication date: October 10, 2013Inventors: Jerry Elliot Rademan, Ronald Wardle, Mark Shand
