  • Patent number: 5200266
Abstract: A method for producing construction panels comprising cellulose fibers as the reinforcing means and of at least one inorganic binder such as cement and possibly of fillers, wherein the crude panels are subjected to air hardening by being stored in stacking structures so that in spite of the use of cement as the binder, cellulose fibers are used without being destroyed. The invention provides that the sulfur trioxide content in the cement shall be less than 2%.

  • Patent number: 5175277
Abstract: A rapidly hydrating welan gum useful for preparing cementitious products. The gum can be dry blended with cement or other dry component and then added to a preformed cement/water pre-mix, thereby alleviating the need for hydrating the gum prior to addition to a cement/water mixture.

  • Patent number: 5174818
Abstract: A composition for forming a tile body consists of a major amount by weight of calcium sulphate hemi-hydrate, 11 to 13% by weight of the calcium sulphate hemi-hydrate of a phenolic resin, a suitable amount of a catalyst for the phenolic resin, water in an amount sufficient to provide with the water present in the other components of the composition approximately the amount of water theoretically required for complete rehydration of the calcium sulphate hemi-hydrate, about 1% by weight of the calcium sulphate hemi-hydrate of a melamine formaldehyde concentrate and about 1% by weight of the calcium sulphate hemi-hydrate of a polyvinyl alcohol. The composition may be used to form tile bodies which may take the place of conventional ceramic tiles utilized in bathrooms, kitchens and the like.

  • Patent number: 5012870
Abstract: A hydraulic cement slurry is disclosed which has low fluid loss properties. In addition to water and hydraulic cement, the hydraulic cement slurry contains a fluid loss control additive comprising a sulfonated or sulfomethylated kraft lignin that has been aminated by reacting it with a polyamine and an aldehyde. The slurry also contains sodium carbonate, sodium phosphate, sodium sulfite, sodium metasilicate or naphthalene sulfonate.

  • Patent number: 4968349
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for producing a hardened mineral product, especially concrete. The method utilizes a hydration reaction with water for at least 1 hour, preferably for 4 to 40 hours, by producing a water/binding agent paste containing components for retardation of binding agent crystallization together with other possible admixtures, e.g., accelerators. When the binding agent reaches an appropriate degree of hydration, preferably 10 to 90%, the unset paste is complemented with fillers for producing the desired mineral mix, after which the end product is shaped as desired and hardened. The water/binding agent paste is agitaged in order to promote the hydration reaction, and when required, admixed with an additional amount of the retarding component of the binding agent crystallization. Furthermore, the invention includes an apparatus for hydrating the binding agent with a facility for subjecting the paste to compacting pressurization in order to improve hydration.
