Patent number: 4351244Abstract: In a four-post merchandizer, two light-gauge sheet metal corner posts are reinforced against twisting by a dual camming action by which the two posts are urged tightly against the corners of the shelves. Each post comprises two telescoping post sections, and a unitary coilable, flexible trim sheet, received in grooves formed in the post elements, and extending from one end of the post to the other. The posts have a W-shaped horizontal cross-section, in which a pocket is formed for receiving the ends of shelf hooks, thereby protecting the flexible trim from damage. Base panels are secured together by sliding a first flange of one panel into a pocket formed by second and third flanges of another panel and two perpendicular surfaces of a post. By tapering the ends of the first and third flanges, the entry of the first flange into the pocket can be carried out without careful initial alignment.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1980Date of Patent: September 28, 1982Assignee: The Mead CorporationInventor: James M. The channels in the front and rear posts are arranged to face towards each other. A plurality of shelves each comprises a flat steel band member on the elongated front and rear edges with each band member having an arcuate end leading to a notched tip or hook which fits in a respective opening in the vertical member. Patent number: 4231301Abstract: An ajustable shelf assembly which, in a four corner post embodiment, preferably includes novel latch structure at each of the opposed front corners of the assembly. Each latch structure is comprised of a flex arm with a latch finger mounted on one end, the flex arm being connected to the shelf at the other end. The flex arm, which preferably is inherently flexible, is normally in a connect position generally parallel to the front edge of the shelf, the latch finger being received in a front corner post hole in that connect position, thereby connecting the shelf and corner post into a shelf assembly. The flex arm's latch finger is retracted from the connect position simply by depressing or flexing the flex arm out of the front edge parallel position by temporarily exerting a force thereon generally normal to the shelf's front edge, thereby permitting the shelf to be easily assembled with or disassembled from the corner post by exerting a manual force on the flex arm generally normal to the shelf's front edge.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1977Date of Patent: November 4, 1980Inventor: Wade H. Barrineau, III

Patent number: 4142638Abstract: A prefabricated storage shelf which can be easily and quickly assembled, disassembled or modified. The vertical posts have a plurality of equally spaced tabs struck from the walls of the post and which tabs have: a gusset formed at the base thereof for increasing the section modulus of the tab; a shape to aid insertion into the openings of horizontal beams; and, a pimple for retaining the horizontal beams in assembled position. Horizontal beams are provided which can be inverted to mate with different thicknesses of lumber forming the shelf. Brackets are provided for coacting with horizontally extending beams.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1977Date of Patent: March 6, 1979Assignee: Husky Storage Systems, Inc.Inventor: William R. Vargo
