  • Patent number: 8424883
Abstract: A utility cart operable to provide objects thereon to a user that is in a position that is generally above the cart such that a portion of the cart to extended to be proximate the user. The cart further includes a frame that includes a base member having four legs that support a platform. The platform includes several recessed compartments that house lifting members. The lifting members are operably coupled to an upper tray. The platform further has disposed therein a plurality of gears that are operably coupled to drive rods, which operate the lifting members. A handle acts as the controller wherein the user can provide rotational force to the handle, which is transferred to the gears and subsequently the drive rods creating the movement in the lifting members which transitions the position of the upper tray.

  • Patent number: 6173934
Abstract: An improved connecting mechanism includes a rotary frame, a connecting seat, and a tightening device. The rotary frame is a substantially inverted U-shaped frame having frame wings on both sides provided with symmetrical wing holes. The connecting seat is a substantially curved structure having a front end seat and a rear end seat, the front end seat being disposed between the two frame wings and formed with a through front axial hole in a transverse direction. The front axial hole has two ends each of which is provided with a recess that is further communicated radially with a groove and a sector-like end recess. Springs are fitted into the recesses, respectively, such that a spring end at one end of each of the springs is inserted into the groove, with a spring coil extending from a spring post at the other end passing through one of the end recesses to connect to one of the frame wings. The tightening device includes a shaft passing through the two wing holes, the two springs, and the front axial hole.

  • Patent number: 6038982
Abstract: In a table (11), the tabletop (19) is divided into three parts (21, 22, 23), of which one (23) is fixedly connected to the frame (13) of the table (11), the second (22) is articulated on the first (23) by a joint (27) and the third (31) is in turn articulated on the second (22) by joint (25) and is adjustable as to height. Together with an arm (29) pivotally fixed on the frame (13) and on the height-adjustable tabletop part (21), the movable tabletop part (22, 21) and the frame (13) form a parallelogram. The angle .alpha. of the parallelogram is adjustable with a lever (31) on the middle tabletop part (22) and by a motor (33) with a spindle (35). The height of the table is thus adjustable.

  • Patent number: 6038986
Abstract: A height adjustable mechanism for supporting a work support for vertical movement relative to a base includes a counterbalance mechanism for providing a force opposing a downward force tending to lower the work support; a lock mechanism for releasably retaining the work support in a desired vertical position; and a manual operator for selectively releasing the lock mechanism to permit vertical movement of the work surface, while preventing operation of the lock mechanism if the counterbalance force and the downward force are out of balance by some given extent. In the preferred construction, the lock mechanism is pivotally supported by a pin normally supported for axial sliding movement under the control of the manual operator, and the lock mechanism applies loading to the pin, when the counterbalance force substantially differs from the downward force, sufficient to constrain the pin against sliding movement, and thereby prevent release of the lock mechanism by the manual operator.

  • Patent number: 5979521
Abstract: An adjustment mechanism for adjusting the position of a surface relative to a first element includes a first arm having first and second members. One of the first and second members is pivotally mounted to the first element about a first axis. The other of the first and second members is pivotally mounted to a second element, having the surface thereon, about a second axis. The first member includes a first bore therein, and at least a portion of the second member is received by and is slidably movable within the first bore. A locking mechanism selectively restrains sliding movement of the second member within the first bore to thereby adjust the length of the first arm and vary the position of the surface relative to the first element.

  • Patent number: 5953776
Abstract: One requirement imposed on a patient table is that it may occupy only a small floor surface area. Therefore, a patient table having a compact base is required. For a variety of applications, moreover, it is desired that the table is also constructed to be very rigid in the direction of adjustment of its height. To this end, the height adjustment system supporting the table is provided with a drive mechanism which consists of two mutually parallel threaded spindles (54, 56) which pass through an associated nut (50, 52) and expand in two mutually opposed directions. The two threaded spindles are preferably driven by a single motor (70). In order to achieve adequate rigidity in the horizontal direction, the hinge is constructed so as to comprise two arms (28, 30) only.
