Plural Shields Patents (Class 109/12)
  • Patent number: 9386323
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for decoding and encoding video are provided. A method of decoding video includes obtaining bit strings corresponding to current transformation coefficient level information by arithmetic decoding a bitstream based on a context model; determining a current binarization parameter by updating or maintaining a previous binarization parameter based on a comparison of a threshold and a size of a previous transformation coefficient; obtaining the current transformation coefficient level information by performing de-binarization of the bit strings using the determined current binarization parameter; and generating a size of a current transformation coefficient using the current transformation coefficient level information, wherein the current binarization parameter has a value equal to or smaller than a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20080178781
Abstract: An anti-rubbery shielding system having at least one vertically popping-up panels is provided. The popping-up panel is suitably comprised of a light, transparent, and rigid plastic that is bullet-resistant. Purpose of the anti-rubbery shielding system according to current application is to protect a clerk in a convenience store, liquor shop, and other small stores which open until late night and to drive out a rubber by scaring. The anti-rubbery shielding system is provided with alert mechanisms of police car siren, voice message of a policeman, visual effect, video record that are operatively associated with the one or more vertically popping-up panels. The anti-rubbery shielding system is activated when the clerk press a button on the floor beneath the cashier's desk by foot.

  • Patent number: 7007585
Abstract: A multi-hit transparent armor system is described and claimed herein for improving the resistance of transparent armor to incoming projectiles. Typically, the transparent armor is framed within a window opening of a security structure. An exemplary, contemplated structure is an armored combat vehicle. My system includes a sheet of tempered glass that is also positioned within said window, but is deployed outboard of said transparent armor and is also parallel planar thereto. Positioned below said sheet of tempered glass, and coaxial thereto, is an opaque armor panel that is more efficient and effective against multiple projectiles than either the tempered glass or transparent armor alone. The tempered glass sheet and the opaque armor are typically loaded under compression by a spring assembly. An incoming projectile, launched from a position outboard and also remote from said structure, will first strike the tempered glass before hitting my transparent armor.

  • Patent number: 6826996
Abstract: A composite armor 10 and method for making it. The armor 10 has a honeycomb core 12 that is provided with polygonal openings 14 and oppositely facing sides 16, 18. Inserts 20 are placed within at least some of the openings. A pair of sheets 22, 24 are respectively secured to the oppositely facing sides of the honeycomb core to close the openings, thereby containing fracture debris after impact, and to provide reinforcement. One method of making the composite armor includes: providing a honeycomb core having polygonal openings; adhering a sheet to cover the polygonal openings that are located on one side of the honeycomb core; at least partially filling at least some of the openings with a resin; placing one or more inserts within at least some of the openings; and adhering a front sheet to the oppositely facing side of the honeycomb core. A preferred manufacturing practice involves resin infusion.

  • Patent number: 6552850
Abstract: The present invention provides a device, method, and system for secure viewing and use of banking and other electronic access devices. The present invention comprises a computer/video display system that includes a computer with a conventional screen that displays a polarized screen image and a polarized partition that allows viewing of the screen by the user positioned in front of the display, while preventing viewing by secondary observers. The present invention operates in conjunction with a standard liquid crystal display (LCD), using the intact polarizer of the LCD. The present invention is intended to be used in conjunction with an automatic teller machine/customer access terminal (ATM/CAT) or personal computer (PC) to allow privacy of information displayed to the ATM/CAT or PC user, without preventing observation of the ATM/CAT or PC user.
