Ply Separating Patents (Class 112/127)
  • Patent number: 6688246
Abstract: A chain stitch sewing machine comprises a needle for penetrating through a cloth on a throat plate to be vertically moved interlockingly with a main spindle of the sewing machine, thereby holding a needle thread, a cloth presser mounted on the throat plate and serving to press the cloth, a looper having a looper thread for reciprocating in such a direction as to cross a cloth feeding direction below the throat plate interlockingly with the main spindle of the sewing machine, a main feed dog for feeding a loop formed by the needle thread and the looper thread in cooperation of the needle and the looper rearward in the cloth feeding direction, and a loop engagement member for protruding from an upper surface of the throat plate and engaging the loop with the cloth presser when the main feed dog is descending from the upper surface of the throat plate.

  • Patent number: 5205231
Abstract: A presser foot having a shoe comprising a pair of mutually facing front portions (5a, 5b) and a pair of rear portions (6a, 6b) in alignment with the front portions (5a, 5b) and connected thereto by a pair of side rocker arms (7a, 7b). The side rocker arms (7a, 7b) are pivotably supported by swinging arms (10a, 10b) linked to a small bearing frame (2). A center rocking arm (15) mounted on the bearing frame (2) acts by a pair of laterally disposed pistons (17a, 17b) on the individual swinging arms (10a, 10b) in order to mutually balance the fulcra of the side rocker arms (7a, 7b). Operating at a longitudinal opening (29) defined between the front portions (5a, 5b) is a fixed knife (32) and a movable knife (33) which are adjustable independently of each other in their vertical positioning relative to the shoe (4).

  • Patent number: 4526113
Abstract: A method of manufacturing pantyhose by means of sewing machine using hose shaped leg parts comprises arranging the leg parts in a flattened side by side longitudinal relationship, cutting each leg part along an edge from the waist rim of its panty area up to a crotch leaving a remaining leg portion of each leg uncut so as to form upper and lower plies of each leg cut along their inner opposite edges, sewing the cut edges of the laterally adjacent plies together from the waist rim to the crotch to form a seam, deflecting the outer plies outwardly to overlie the remaining leg portions and continuing to sew the seam by sewing in the same direction the edge portions of the upper plies together. A sewing machine carrying out the invention includes a presser foot having a sole with a toe shaped front part which engages into each leg portion of the pantyhose to be formed.

  • Patent number: 4321880
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a presser foot attachment adapted for use with a sewing machine for stitching an upper material to a base material and simultaneously trimming the edge of the base material along a line closely adjacent the row of stitches. The presser foot attachment includes a main section and an auxiliary section. The main section of the foot terminates just forward of the sewing machine needle so as to allow the juxtaposed edges of the upper and lower materials to be placed in close proximity to the needle at the onset of the sewing operation. The auxiliary section is movable between two positions and aids in guiding and separating the upper material over the base material and to the sewing station of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4040366
Abstract: An apparatus is provided having a continuous band of material passing through the stitching means of a sewing machine. Pieces of material are manually placed individually on the band and hemmed to it at a side which has been folded under the band by a mechanical folder. A sensing means senses the passage of an end of each piece which has had a portion raised from the band and in response activates a cutter which cuts away a strip of the band to which the piece was hemmed. A removal means for moving the strip away from the band and into a stacker is activated after the strip has been cut away from the band. The stacker has a base supporting two spaced, upwardly extending sidewalls defining a passage therebetween. Each of the sidewalls supports a ledge protruding into the passage. A portion of the base is vertically movable and adapted to fit within the space between the ledges.
